I don't trust him either. He comes across very smooth and reasonable, but FReepers from Indiana have said on other posts not to trust him. He didn't vote for CJ Roberts, who IIRC was from his own state.
Evan Bayh has NEVER run an election as a Democrat. You NEVER see his party affiliation on any of his campaign ads.
