from "Hannity & Colmes," ...
SEAN HANNITY...from San Francisco tonight, the board of supervisors here overwhelmingly voted to reject a plan last year that would bring the historic World War II Iowa battleship right here to San Francisco harbor, as a museum and tourist center.
We're now joined by one of the supervisors that voted against that plan, Gerardo Sandoval is with us.
You don't want a symbol of war in the harbor. Is what you said to me.
GERARDO SANDOVAL: That's right...
it's a warship and it's got guns on it. It fires things. You know, you can't deny what it is.
SANDOVAL: I don't think we should have a military. Absolutely.
SANDOVAL: The United States should not have a military. All in all, we would be in much, much, much better shape.
...what do you want to defend ourselves with?
SANDOVAL: Well, you got cops. It's called the Coast Guard.
HANNITY: I've got to tell you, this is a first. You made look Alan look like a hawk.
I'm going to tell you something. If America is attacked, you have no defenses.
You have no liberty.
You have no freedom.
You can't think in such a shallow way.
You've got to tell me that this is a joke.
HANNITY: Or when al Qaeda attacks you, what are you going to do?

This guy is a complete idiot and someone should cut off his balls so he doesn't breed.
But the transcript was fascinating enough. As you say, Colmes seems dismayed to find such a turkey so far up the ladder in his party. I could almost feel for the guy. (Nah!)
I think she's way to big to fit through the channels and a bazillion other obstacles, but I with they could get her to Duluth and make her a museum there. I don't know how much it costs to operate such a beast, but I'd happily pay a pretty penny to search her stem to stern at least once per year.
Why not return the USS Iowa to where it was it was laid down and commissioned - New York. Put it right between Ground Zero and the Statue of Liberty, also across the Brooklyn Navy Yards.
Sorry.
This might have been a better link.

The horrifying part of this story is that Sandoval is considered a moderate on the SF Board of Supervisors.
And one of the smarter ones.
It should go somewhere it is appreciated.
bump!
I was aboard the USS Missouri when she was still in commission in the Eighties- and she visited San Francisco. Fantastic ship.
Sandoval is a fool. It's a terrible shame that he and people like him have taken over what used to be a wonderful town.
Nice picture. Thanks.
It's not just him, most of the leadership of San Francisco are ultra-liberal leftists. And they came from elsewhere. San Francisco used to have a Republican base (and mayor). Over the last 45 years, these screwed-up leftists have ruined a formerly pro-military town.
I'm a native-born San Franciscan, my dad was a career military man. Back in the 1950's, he would have no problem parking a military jeep in front of our house in the Mission District. There used to be an block-size armory in our district, filled with military vehicles, and I felt proud when he took me inside to see the wonder of it all. Same goes for our trips to the Presidio when he bought goods there. Also our trips to the Treasure Island navy base.
The SF leaders have effectively kicked the U.S. military out of San Francisco. If they had their way, they'd want to ruin the rest of our nation.
You're welcome. Awesome, isn't it? That's the personification of "projection of power".
"The Iowa class battleships are a national treasure; they're the one thing we have which could plausibly sail straight into the straits of Hormuz with no fear of any conventional weapon."
SR-71's are supposedly mothballed yet they are still resurrected occasionally and put into service flying super hi speed trips or recon. I suspect the battleships could likewise be pressed back into service without a great deal of trouble, perhaps even those being used as museums. Alas, my poor super-connies are long gone.
Hey, without useless POS's like him, the town wouldn't be screwed up! Wouldn't that be preferable?
They don't like cops and firemen here in SF either.
Well, if he's from SF, he probably uses them in a way not conducive to reproduction. If he's the exception, you wouldn't be able to find them to cut them off, as his wife has 'em in a jar.
Wow! Now that's saying something!
