The article dances around ethnic and racial and illegal immigration issues related to this reported upsurge in murders, but strangely the reasons are still portrayed as mysterious and unknowable. It couldn't be that PC is preventing an esteemed news source such as the New York Times from frank and honest reporting, could it?

As a resident of Illinois the fiefdom of Daley I can tell you why crime might be rising in Milwaukee. Daley has been succesful in gentrification of alot of neighborhoods, and in effect sending his criminals out of Chicago.

If that graph extended back 15 years you would see more of a drop in crime. However, living in Georgia you must be concerned about crime in any city of any size. Atlanta is dangerous in some areas and at night be careful. Also, Savannah, Albany, Augusta, Macon, the list goes on. Recently there has been much concern about gangs in school and home invasions. In particular there was a group of home invasion murderers that were killing and robbing Hispanic immigrants since they don't keep their money in banks.

You know, I would SWEAR that I saw an article posted around here just last week that said crime rates were at their lowest in something like...ever.

Crime rate increase/decrease trends can not be assessed year to year. Especially since the yearly murder rates that show an increase are measured in 5 or 10 per 100,000. That is scarcely a crime wave. Especially when you are trying to blame it on an increase in gun permits from 700 to 32,000. This is just dumb.

Also, I noticed it says the 1990s saw a decline while it is going up now. That is so obviously agenda driven it's laughable.
