The Governor's School of North Carolina describes itself as "program for intellectually gifted high school students, integrating academic disciplines, the arts, and unique courses." But one North Carolina couple is suffering some after effects of their son's involvement in the program. Jim and Beverly Burrows say after their son attended a Governor's School seminar called "The New Gay Teenager," he began telling them he was unsure of his "sexual orientation."
The parents believe the seminar was intentionally scheduled as the last optional one before classes ended in order to leave a strong, lasting impression on the students and bypass any parental notification about the seminar.
Jim Burrows says he noticed a big difference in his otherwise normal son upon his return from the school.
"He [said he] was thinking now that he perhaps was gay -- and of course I was floored by this [pronouncement] and was, like, 'where did this come from?' This kind of came out of left field," the dad says. After questioning his son for an extended period, Burrows says he discovered the source. "I found out that this was as a result of this seminar."
According to Burrows, his son was instructed by two openly homosexual staff members of the Governor's School to question his sexuality as well as Bible passages that condemn homosexuality. And the students were also encouraged by instructors to start a Gay Straight Alliance club at their schools, he says.
The North Carolina dad explains that his son's subsequent struggle with homosexuality has turned his family upside down. "As far as our family is concerned, the damage has already been done," he laments. "There's no way that we can go back and undo what has been done."
Still, Mr. Burrows feels he needs to warn other parents of the homosexual indoctrination his son encountered at the Governor's School. "[I]f I can keep one other family from having to go through this, then all this trouble has been worthwhile," he says.
Today more than at any other time it takes a parent!
Preferably TWO of them to raise a healthy child; to protect them against the feminist and homosexual agenda, which is really the lure of the devil. What is it they say happens when good men do nothing? And where did all the BRAVE men to FIGHT against this travesty go?
What is a "unic"?
Yes, all the hedonists have their favorite Bible verse "Judge not lest ye be judged" with the mistaken implication that Christians should not criticize sin or evil. We all know how uppity the heathens get when they think they are being judged. Of course, it's perfectly okay for THEM to judge, ridicule, lampoon and outcast Christians but they all know to throw this verse in our faces like it somehow gives them moral equality.
There are kids out there who are on the line, they are more pliable than others but that does not minimize a seminar where they tell people to question their sexuality and attack Bible versus...
Celebration of Diversity bump
Idiotic and totally innapropriate class. No one should be teaching a course about being a teen homosexual or a teen heterosexual. On the other hand, if this kid is so stupid he can be turned into a homosexual by a couple morons, then he was probably gay to begin with.
At least you were the victim of a polite predator. I didn't get even a note.
"Get-on-Your-knees-and-Pray-like-JESUS-prayed" Time!
Go find BFSkinner, he will set you straight.
>So you could have been persuaded to make that choice if approached in the right way at 16 or 17? What would have convinced you?<
Perhaps he wouldn't have been persuaded on the spot, but the suggestion could certainly raise doubts in a younster's mind, with the idea coming from every direction today, including school. That is exactly the objective of homosexuals in recruiting victims into their ranks. (Breaking down the importance of traditional marriage and family, thus destroying a healthy society).
As I say earlier in this thread, it takes aware and concientious parents to raise a child. Sadly, in most cases, homosexuality can, indeed, be a choice.
The New Gay Teenager gives us a refreshing and frequently controversial introduction to confident, competent, upbeat teenagers with same-sex desires
The professor says he hopes that "we can accept a wide range on the sexual spectrum -- most of us are somewhere in between [gay and heterosexual]."
In his book, Savin-Williams uses terms like "pre-gay" to describe kids who aren't yet aware they're gay; and "gayish," and "post-gay." He believes that love is situational, based on the person and not on the gender. According to Savin-Williams, "[Women] tend to be more fluid, not exclusively genitally focused. Increasingly, I'm finding boys who are of the same belief and attitude. This gives me hope."
"seminars make people gay? Or was his son pretty much on the way to gay anyway?"
He's a kid dude. Kid's can be manipulated easily by these perverts. It's a form of brainwashing as far as I'm concerened.
One for the list for sure.
Exactly right.
Planned Parenthood
From Pre-Gay to Post-Gay
Savin-Williams has positioned his book to not only fill the gaps in our knowledge about the "old gay teens" but to ring in a new era of same-sex-attracted teens who are different from their predecessors in fundamental ways: the "new gay teenagers."
These "new gay teenagers" not only represent a fuller picture of who gay teens have always been they also represent a generational shift. The new gay teens have embraced a whole new lexicon to describe their sexuality, including labels that incorporate everything from alternative gender expression ("queerboi") to the firm rejection of labeled sexuality altogether ("unlabeled"). This constitutes more than a trend of new catch phrases; Savin-Williams believes that this proliferation of new words to describe sexuality heralds a seismic shift in gay youth culture that elides the artificial dichotomy between hetero- and homosexuals.
This shift in cultural thinking is partly the result of pop culture phenomenons like Queer Eye for the Straight Guy and Will and Grace, and partly the result of increased political advocacy for anti-hate-crime legislation, civil rights protections, gay adoption, and gay marriage. In short, Savin-Williams believes that the gay movement has been so successful in its drive for the mainstream acceptance of gayness that gayness itself no longer carries any significant cultural meaning that being gay is no more extraordinary than, say, having brown hair.

Gay Seminar Upsets Parents: Governor's School's seminar called 'The New Gay Teenager'
The seminar, The New Gay Teenager, was based on a book with the same name, written by homosexual Cornell University professor Ritch Savin-Williams. The book and the Governors School seminar discussed whether homosexual teen-agers benefit, or are harmed, by embracing labels based on their sexual orientation. The co-leaders of the seminar identified themselves as gay
