"How dreadful are the curses which Mohammedanism lays on its votaries! Besides the fanatical frenzy, which is as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia in a dog, there is this fearful fatalistic apathy. The effects are apparent in many countries. Improvident habits, slovenly systems of agriculture, sluggish methods of commerce, and insecurity of property exist wherever the followers of the Prophet rule or live. A degraded sensualism deprives this life of its grace and refinement; the next of its dignity and sanctity.
The fact that in Mohammedan law every woman must belong to some man as his absolute property, either as a child, a wife, or a concubine, must delay the final extinction of slavery until the faith of Islam has ceased to be a great power among men. Individual Moslems may show splendid qualities - but the influence of the religion paralyses the social development of those who follow it. No stronger retrograde force exists in the world. Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant and proselytizing faith. It has already spread throughout Central Africa, raising fearless warriors at every step; and were it not that Christianity is sheltered in the strong arms of science, the science against which it had vainly struggled, the civilization of modern Europe might fall, as fell the civilization of ancient Rome."
There are times when respectable politicians must say things that they don't mean. There's no doubt that Mr Bush's comments fall into that category."Progressives",OTOH,*truly* believe that these 9th Century knuckledraggers are worthy of admiration and respect.
And it goes without saying that "progressives" (aka: burned out 60's hippies) are in complete control of today's democRAT Party.
Churchill, I would say, was the single greatest man of the 20th Century, as Lincoln was the greatest man of the 19th.
There's a story I'm fond of - I'm pretty sure that it's in the Roy Jenkins biography of Churchill (though it could be Manchester's one) of how, when Churchill was an old man and Prime Minister for a second time, one of his young Grandsons skipped up to him and asked him, "Grandpapa, is it true that you are the greatest man in the world?"
Churchill responded, "Yes. Now bugger off."
A.D. = After Denial?
There is such a rampant hatred of truth that leadership ignores it as long as possible and tries to figure a way to get around it.
Absolutely sarasota!
I firmly believe that if politicians did not to worry about the MSM and rats, ships would be sailing to the Middle East full of the mudslime traitors hiding in the USA behind the false premise of being a religion.
My peacenik minister soldier father-in-law, who was a non-gun-carrying chaplain with the Australian army in the most vicious theatres of New Guinea in WW2, came home and said that the next fascist threat would come from Islam. That was in 1945.
There...it's all fixed now. ;O)
Oh, I dunno; old Adolf got an entire nation to commit suicide, which is great leadership after a fashion. Still, I'd rather have had Churchill as a dinner guest... provided he brought his own bottle.
He could have said,"I will speak no ill of a religion which is said to glorify suicide, murders its and others children, mutilates and enslaves its own women, preaches the destruction of all that is not like itself, and seeks to cause fear in every free human. It speaks volumes on its own!" (my words)
B.S. on this (tell it to Issac Newton, Kepler, Pasteur, Hoyle, and the host of Christians who advanced Science because they saw it as a way understanding God's laws of universe and nature) ... but spot on with the rest of the quote...
Someone who spent a lot of time in the Mideast recently told me that one of the most important words to learn in Arabic is "inshallah" (as Allah wills it), which means about the same as the Spanish word "manyana" but without manyana's sense of urgency.
"It seems to me a certainty that the fatalistic teachings of Mohammed and the utter degradation of the Arab women are the outstanding causes for the arrested development of the Arab. He is exactly as he was around the year 700, while we have been developing."
General George S. Patton
bump
These powerful words should make liberals take notice if the dims weren't so ignorant.
He was so right, and it will be generations and generations I'm afraid who will have to fight it.
The Islamists are just as fanatical as the Japanese we faced during WWII. Imagine if Japan had fanatical followers spread throughout the world, as Islam is, as opposed to merely being confined to one small country.
The great thing about this quote, which i first saw shortly after 9/11 is that Islam has been the same, and the problems cited then were well before Israel, oil, American bases, or any of the other litany of excuses.
