WASHINGTON, Feb. 7 A House Republican whose subcommittee oversees the National Security Agency broke ranks with the White House on Tuesday and called for a full Congressional inquiry into the Bush administration's domestic eavesdropping program.
Representative Heather A. Wilson, a House chairwoman, has broken ranks with the president.
The lawmaker, Representative Heather A. Wilson of New Mexico, chairwoman of the House Intelligence Subcommittee on Technical and Tactical Intelligence, said in an interview that she had "serious concerns" about the surveillance program. By withholding information about its operations from many lawmakers,

So... disagreeing with the president means your not a Republican? This my way or the highway mentality is going to hurt us down the road. A lot of Republicans are getting sick of it.
That's the way it is with some of the RNC kool-aid drinkers. They're still pissed about Harriet Miers. Don't stress.
It's just a NY Times article. They probably misquoted her and embellished the "tone" of the news just for effect.
Relax. Breathe deep. Keep in mind that not everyone that publishes news is either honest or on our side.
Here's a different take:http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1573862/posts
Election season is coming. Personal ambitions will override national security.
Bush at this point, is going to have to push forward as hard as he can and take out Iran and Syria. Otherwize it won't get done. everyone else will be too worried about themselves and getting re elected. May as well have the democrats committed into wars they otherwise wouldn't fight.
Yes, that's the reality of it all, but that's not the road this Wilson (it must be something with that name) is following.
Your's is good advice to always keep in the back of our minds. I have too often, in the past, flown into a blind rage after ready not even a whol;e article, but often just an excerpt here on FR, and then found to my embarrassment that I was duped by the legacy media and that the perfidy attributed to good Republicans was just another media smear meant to disinform annd sow dissension in Republican ranks..
Fortunately, I don't think too many Freepers here remember some of my sillier responses during those times.
Let's give Rep. Wilson a chance until we know for sure she's guilty as charged.
Agreed. There has been way too much grandstanding in the GOP ranks.
The President has said that he welcomes an investigation, so maybe this is all part of the rope-a-dope, telling the 'Rats, "Put up or shut up."
Yeah... Enrique Wilson comes to mind. :)
NY Slimes are in complete defense mode and are finding any Republicans that they can get to say "serious concerns".
What exactly are her "serious concerns"?
Lets investigate "Able Danger" first, now that is a cover-up of something that could reveal much.
I'm repeating this from yesterday and I think her serious concern would come from the possibility that if the Rats even have a claim Jimmy Carter passed Presidential Constitutional Authorities to the Judiciary which in its self is a violation of the Constitution. Carter should not have been allowed to waive his responsibilities.
This story is BS! The only "vote" they'll have is in the Rats imagination. First, the committee must show that the President purposely violated the AUMF in it's specific language. Second, the President purposely and maliciously bypassed FISA and that there is no FISA exclusionary clauses. Third, the President doesn't have Inherited Authorities under article 2 of the constitution. If they manage to prove all three of these items then they must rule FISA unconstitutional because it stripped the Presidents Constitutional Authority without a Constitutional Amendment and any cases that used evidence from FISA will be tossed and convicts will get new trials. If the President is able to show that any of the three legal claims favor his authorities, case closed. The Rats knew this yesterday and once they got to Article 2 it was over. No matter if they prove the President should have gone to FISA or knew the AUMF didn't apply to eavesdropping they just can't hurdle that little Presidential Authorities thing.
BTW, I just noticed that the writer of this article is one that the DOJ is currently investigating for the leak. This is probably symbolic to how it was written.
