For All The Ladies Of The Canteen. Especially Esmeralda, her sister and Kidlett
Therapy
When the sun goes down and it gets dark
I go about on my nightly lark
Easily checking the house's every room
For my eyes see clearly in the shadowy gloom
Determining who and what with a single smell
Counting heads and knowing All is Well
When it gets warmer and darker later
My Humans travel from the refrigerator
To the Den and The Big Long Chair
Sometimes alone. Sometimes in pairs
To unwind and talk about this and that
It's one of the Best Times to be a Cat
Leaping up from the floor to cushions and laps
Fingertips swirling my fur makes for the best of naps
Or I can opt to climb way up The Big Chair's spine
My claws gently brushing The Pretty One's hair so fine
Then slink out slowly, or sometimes bolder
My head upon my paws atop The Big One's shoulder
Later, when My Humans go up the stairs
I'll wait awhile on the cushions of The Big Chair
Then go up and see them under shiny silky covers
Sometimes as friends. Sometimes as lovers
To wait for a spot between them narrow and deep
Where I can slide close. Close my eyes and sleep

Welcome back to the weird side of the world!
I wonder if you'll make it back into Iraq today.
'Tis mighty dust-stormy in Baghdad today. Visibility's not great.
Stay safe!
