CONGRESS'S Secret Saddam Tapes
New York Sun ^ | February 7, 2006 | Eli Lake

Posted on 02/07/2006 5:02:09 AM PST by IrishMike

"The House Permanant Select Committee on Intelligence is studying hours of audio recordings between Saddam Hussein and his top advisors that may provide clues to the whereabouts of Iraq's WEAPONS of MASS DESTRUCTION. The committee has already confirmed through the intelligence community that the recordings of saddam's voice are AUTHENTIC, according to it's chairman, REP. Peter Hoekstra of Michigan, who would not go into detail about the nature of the conversations or their context." " The audio recordings are part of new evidence the House Intelligence Committee is piecing together that has spurred Mr Koekstra to reopen the question of whether Iraq had the BIOLOGICAL, CHEMICAL and NUCLEAR weapons American weapons inspectors could not turn up." They were provided to his committee by a former Federal prosecutor, John Loftus, who says he received them from a former American military intelligence analyst.

Two thoughts on the Iraqi Ba'athists' WMD's:

1. If someone was lying, it was Saddam Hussein. If (and I doubt it) his goverment had only the few labs mentioned in the ISG's final report (enough to produce chemical or biological weapons for a terrorist attack, though not enough to produce enough for battlefield use), why the cat-and-mouse game with UNSCOM? If they didn't have WMD's, their behavior was the lie, not the intepretation given it by every intelligence service on the planet. (Point this out to every leftist who gives you the 'Bush lied' line.)

2. What was the huge camoflagued depot full of drums, supposedly of organophospate pesticides, doing on an Iraqi military post? And what pesticide was it? There is at least one organophosphate pesticide (banned in the US) that the Canadian intelligence service lists as a possible terrorist weapon. Could it be we found the WMD's, but that they were 'dual use' technology (a little light spray kills bugs, a good strong one humans)? The stuff we found was strong enough to cause nerve gas exposure symptoms (all satisfactorily treated) in the troops who found it.

"However, the Dems ceased being a strong, America-loving party long ago. They need to right the ship, and quickly."

Exactly. Although at times it doesn't seem like there are very many, there are some cooler heads in the Democratic Party.

Their largest problem is how to 'shuck off' the loony left and steer themselves back toward responsible government. They'd still be a party of big government, but that's where the 'arena of ideas', as Rush puts it, comes into play.

It would be funny to see the democrats get beat with tapes, just like they did to Nixon.

Surely there is a transcript of Powells presentation to the UN if you want to convince yourself.

I'm very familiar with Sec. Powell's presentation to the U.N. (which BTW had nothing to do with the infamous NSA program). I'm talking about these new tapes.

I made a mistake when I said:

Leahey, et al, did a good job trying to force Gonzales to discuss operational details

...because actually Leahey did an atrocious, transparent, and juvenile job of trying to get Gonzales to discuss classified operational intelligence information in a public forum.

I can't recall the exact questions - some were along the lines of "How many times have you wiretapped communications in the program?" - but when Gonzales slapped him down, Leahey would come right back with "Well let me ask it this way", and then using some cheap semantic trick to ask precisely the same question, which Gonzales would spank him for again.

It really left Leahey looking like the complete dolt that he is.

I agree about the 2 party system, however I think the Rats are too far gone. I think what you're seeing is the Republicans become the Dems of old, and we Conservatives being forced out to become our own entity. I just heard Hannity on the Rick & Bubba show say he had re-registered in NY as a "Conservative Party" member. Evidently they offer that option in NY, and I wish it was offered here in NC. I feel like the Republicans can't back away from us quick enough, and it's evidenced from the spending in Washington, to our Light Rail project here in Charlotte. I think our Republican leaders spend too much time reading the old media, and not enough time paying attention to the new. My apologies to Congressman Billy Bob.

Voice analysis. Pattern of speech. Typical grammatical/sentence construction. Multiple corroborating sources that confirm these meetings took place. Etc, etc, etc.

I feel like the Republicans can't back away from us quick enough

Then why seat conservatives on the bench? Why cut taxes? Why push pro-life legislation?

I knew what you meant :)

Leahy is a bitter has-been. Gonzales wouldn't budge which just made Leahy "OUTRAGED"!

They are so predictable.......kinda like two year olds.

While I commend Hoekstra for doing all that he can to prove the existence of wmds (and hopefully put focus on Rockefellers 'solo' trip to syria) IMO, The 'Bush Lied us into War because there were NO WMD's" mantra is something that the democrats can not and will not concede no matter what the evidence. It is the foundation upon which they have built their impeachment jihad.

18 hours of voice recordings from Hussein, Aziz, all the henchmen, FABRICATED? Yes, I suppose it's theoretically possible.
