It's all a publicity stunt for the TV show, "Iraqi Idol" where Saddam Hussein, Osama bin Laden, and Cindy Sheehan all judge Iraqi singers.

The pathetic thing is that Colin Powell heard these tapes and he KNEW too, but chose to distance himself from President Bush.

Not sure I follow your version of history. Powell presented the Iraq WMD case to the U.N., and very effectively for all of us listening (except the U.N.).

Why this particular chain of custody?

Good question.

I'm of a mind this was an orchestrated leak. Perhaps by the administration. It was given to the House Intelligence committee as it notes. Not a newspaper.

If so, and I'm guessing, then it's about time the administration pressed back about those weapons. They let that "no weapons of mass destruction" go entirely too far.

"the story from Mr. Sada. "I talked to one person relatively high up in DNI, and I asked him about this and asked are they going to follow up, and he looked at me and said, 'No we don't think so.' At this point, I guess you guys don't get it."

What does that mean? I don't get it. What did Hoekstra think the DNI guy was trying to say?

John Loftus used to be a regular on the John Batchelor show where he often talked about the WMD's and how they were moved out of Iraq shortly before the war with help from some rogue former Russian generals who were helping Saddam.
I think Steven Hayes also has a bunch of internal documents that are being translated that might shed some light on the WMD story. He got these after the fall of Iraq in some of the government archives.
So I am hoping between now and November more of this stuff floats to the top of the news pond and really opens up the nation to the truth of how all this came to pass.
Keeping my fingers crossed, but who knows, now that this is out there the stuff could just disaapear from it's hiding places in Syria and Bekkah Valley in Lebanon.

I imagine they are not listening to the tapes, but rather reading transcripts. Unless Saddam likes to speak english with his top advisors, or they have some bilingual members on the panel.

In the hearing yesterday, after Gonzales mentioned that the head of the CIA had testified that the NSA leak had caused serious damage, Biden said (paraphrasing) "the head of the CIA also told us there were WMD, so I can't just take his word for it".

FISA hearings yesterday? Gonzales should have walked out.

Pathetic. They asked him the same questions over and over again for 8 hours. Leahey, et al, did a good job trying to force Gonzales to discuss operational details, but he never waivered.

I was a little surprised at Lindsey Graham, guess he was playing for the audience and his Senate colleagues.

Someone - a talking head? - rightly pointed out that there's really nowhere for them to go due to clear Constitutional separation issues. The bombastic Senate will really have to beg for any concessions, and I hope that GWB gives them nothing.

"The WMD question is one that has the potential to seal the doom of Democrats. I'm sure the Bush administration has more than enough ammo to sink them the question is why haven't they did it yet? It may be shrewd calculation or it might be because they don't want to be forced to deal with Syria yet. I'd be wary if I were the left, the trap has been set."

Let me pose another possibility. We have a 2 party system. This would sink the Dimocrats. The President has renewed his call for bipartisanship cooperation. Is he simply giving the Dims one more opportunity to return to the table as a viable opposition party?

I, for one, would prefer to continue our 2 party system (as long as they're both pro American and only disagree on substance) instead of having one strong and several very weak parties. If the President should share such an opinion, I could see he using this as one final opportunity to bring reason to the table; especially since there's a unique possibility that this damning evidence will come to the public soon.

I know, why give the Dims the chance to reform? There's something to be said in that regard, but I still believe two strong National parties that are founded on a love for America is our best bet.

If Iraq WMD’s were transferred to Syria before the war begins, then we have one man who will prove this to us. He is the exiled Syrian Vice President Abdul AL Halim Khaddam. He is talking now and exposing the regime in Damascus. He was the second man in Syria from 1970 to 2004 so he knows for sure if Saddam had really transferred his WMD’s to Syria. We shall wait and see.

I figure about 4 months before the 08 election they'll start uncovering WMD's.... buried here and there.... etc. It will not be good news for Hillary et al.

For Gen Sada to come out publicly and do countless interviews on big name shows from Hannity down, shows me a brave man doing a hell of a lot more than just selling a book.
He knows how many of his fellow countrymen have been killed, their families killed for doing just what he is doing now. IMHO this guy is hero and a patriot for his country and doing a lot to help us.

I doubt you'll find much disagreement with that sentiment around here. I completely agree with you. However, the Dems ceased being a strong, America-loving party long ago. They need to right the ship, and quickly.

Where'd you get that from? Source, please?

I clearly remember Powell playing a recording of an Iraqi General recorded a few days before we went in. The subject at hand was a truck loaded with Chem weapons that had slipped thru the cracks and was still in a location it should not have been at that late date.

Powell aslo notified the UN that many Iraqi officers were communicating with us re defection, post-invasion actions, etc.......some of them were quite willing to cooperate with info and actions, and some were denying everything. I recall very clearly that Powell said that they (US DoD, probably NSA, too) had the cellphone numbers of most of the Iraqt commans structure, and had been calling them regularly for some time by that point.

Surely there is a transcript of Powells presentation to the UN if you want to convince yourself. The NSA program was in full bloom and fruitful that early!
