IPSWICH, England, Feb. 6 (UPI) -- A school in England has decided that hot cross buns are religiously offensive, and demanded the supplier start making them as simply cross-less currant buns.
Traditionally served at Easter time, the buns have been around since 1361, when a monk reportedly made small spiced cakes stamped with the sign of the cross, to be distributed to the poor visiting the monastery at St. Albans on Good Friday.
Head teacher Tina Jackson of the Oaks Primary School in Ipswich says that might offend some religious minorities like Jehovah's Witnesses, who are not allowed to worship things of a pagan nature.
But the Rev. Haley Dossor told the Suffolk Evening Star political correctness has gone too far.
"All religions have particular traditions, habits and customs and this is one of the traditions of the Church of England," he said.
One parent who asked not to be identified told the newspaper it was an absurd move.
"I have never heard of anything so ridiculous. Since when have hot cross buns been offensive?" the parent asked the Star.
Everything and Anything that has anything to do with Christian values is now offensive.
How in the world are hot cross buns "things of a pagan nature"?
Ughhh...
Watch out, or the Jehovah's Witnesses will start rioting, eh?
More likely they could abstain from buns. As could the Muslims, if they choose. I'm not sure that I'd eat a bun with a Muslim sign on it, but then again if it was in a Muslim country I wouldn't riot over it.
This kind of PC action actually invites the Muslims to riot, which they never would have thought of otherwise.
A Danish by any other name is still a Danish.
Atheists, LIBS, Secularists: "It's all in your mind..."
What?! That has already been done?
Never mind.
"the buns have been around since 1361"
That's what a secular "progressive" thinking gets you! Culture at its finest. I think they should deem English offensive. Maybe teach more Arabic? Sounds much more "inclusive" to me.

Please send me all the offensive hot-cross-buns. I'll 'take care' of them.
Jehova's Witnessness? Yeah sure. Fess up lady, we know who you're really afraid of offending.
Of course, Hot Stickey Buns are just fine.
I'm as baffled as you.
The article clearly states,
"Traditionally served at Easter time, the buns have been around since 1361, when a monk reportedly made small spiced cakes stamped with the sign of the cross, to be distributed to the poor visiting the monastery at St. Albans on Good Friday."
How many pagan monks do you know? In 1361 St. Albans?
He's the minstrel gigilo don't you know
Looks like I'm off to the British embassy...Any of my fellow Christians want to bring the matches?!?! </ sarcasm>
Even a crescent roll?
There is no attack on "X-mas"! It's made up by Bill O'Reily. Sarcasm off

Crucifix in a jar of urine? Oh, not offensive. That's art.
Evidence of a religion other than Islam? Highly offensive! Rid the world of hot-cross buns, or we will riot!
We have to stop playing the multiculti game.
The buns won't be the same without the cross in them. Cutting the top like that allows the dough to expand during baking.
