Embassies ablaze as Muslim anger spreads (muslims of the world unite against "infidels")

The increasingly bitter row over the publication of a series of controversial cartoons of the Prophet Mohammad reached a new intensity last night as protesters set fire to the Danish and Norwegian embassies in Syria.

With police signalling that they will launch an investigation into the behaviour of protesters in London who called for those insulting Islam to 'be beheaded', protesters in the Syrian capital, Damascus, defied tear gas and water cannon to enter the Danish embassy and replace that country's flag with another which read: 'No God but Allah, Mohammad is His Prophet.'

Last night the Danish embassy, which was empty when attacked, was a charred hulk. The Norwegian embassy was still burning. As well as the dramatic scenes in Damascus - not known for its Islamic militancy - rising tensions among Muslims over the publication of 'blasphemous' cartoons in Denmark threatened to boil over across the globe.

And done what -- not printed their material out of fear? Wow, what a great concept of a free society THAT is.

Choudary warned that the row over the cartoons was set to escalate. 'The Danish journalists and others who followed suit, I don't think they're going to be able to live peacefully from now on,' he told The Observer. 'A fatwa will be issued, there will be people around the Muslim world who will take that very seriously and what happened to Salman Rushdie is going to happen to the journalists.'

IMO, the Islamists need to be much more excited in western Europe. I don't want people to get hurt, but the EU needs to be very effectively awakened.

One might be tempted to cheer for the Mohammedans now. The alarm clock is clanging loudly now on the nightstand. Maybe Europe can shake her drowsy head and wake up.

A poster above was correct. If it wasn't the cartoons it would have been something else. Forget the focus on the cartoons.

The radical Muslim leaders have seized on the cartoon pretext to test their strength and to assess where their strength lies.

They want to assess the fear factor they're promulgating to see how effective it is. They want to test the reaction of the West, whether it is strong and united or wimpy, fearful and disjointed.

Like we hear on radio and TV, "this is just a test".

These uprisings did not happen by accident. The cartoons were just the trigger. Although it's a normal reaction to focus on the cartoons, they are relatively unimportant now......the focus should now be on Muslim militancy breaking into the open in cities abroad.....and perhaps next, here at home.

No, I am not saying they should not have printed it. The artists should have learned the lesson of Rushdie and not been surpised by the reaction. It is not surprising at all to me.

If you see a gang crime, the right thing to do is report it to the police. But you must also be prepared for what may happen next.

Yes, we do have a Muslim problem. It will not be eradicated until those who want to commit terror in the name of their religion are made to stop. It is certainly not all of them, but it is enough to cause a grave danger to the world.
