Wearing a brown golf cap against the cold drizzle, Rocky Omary stood outside Walima Cafe in Falls Church, where he and about 50 other men of Middle Eastern descent had just watched the Tunisian soccer team take a drubbing from the Nigerians.
That trouncing was bad enough. But Omary had other, more disturbing, insults on his mind: specifically, the recent publication in European newspapers of cartoons depicting the Prophet Muhammad as a terrorist.
(Nikki Kahn - The Washington Post) "I've been getting a lot of e-mails about it, and I'm distributing them all," said Omary, a Damascus native who sells real estate in Northern Virginia. "There is a limit to freedom. There are 1.2 billion Muslims in the world. Let's have some respect."
A few miles away at the All Dulles Area Muslim Society mosque in Sterling, Zaki Al Barzinji, 16, was equally upset.
"Just because you can say something doesn't mean you should say something," the teenager said. "If somebody showed a picture of the Pope with a bomb on his head, that would cause a great public outcry. Nobody would be talking about freedom of speech."

Just because you can say something doesn't mean you should say something.
You don't get it..
Why do I get the idea that if someone posted a pic of the pope with a bomb on his head, it would generate a collective yawn?
I would have to completely agree with you. It is about time the world community discussed the cultural divide between Islam and the rest of the world.
Under no circumstances can we allow ourselves to be dictated to by any culture. No one is forcing the Muslims (a) to immigrate to Denmark and (b) to read the papers. The Muslims are free to go back to their countries of origin if they choose not to assimilate. Obviously their countries "suck" otherwise the Danes would be immigrating instead.
No. You don't understand his reply. Maybe you should ask him about it first.
It seems like the Muslims in the US are kind of wimpy compared to their counterparts abroad.
Or perhaps they know we enforce the law, and take troublemakers straight to jail?
Is the culture of the head hunters of Borneo entitled to equal respect with the West? How about the culture of the Aztecs (if revived)? Or, the Druids? Or, the Nazis?
The central problem is that the Muslims are, by modern standards, uncivilized. Everyone tap dances around this point, but it is the central issue. Muslims should no more be allowed to have nuclear weapons than three-year-olds should have loaded police .38s. It's as simple as that.
Did I miss anything?

Damn straight, Mr. Lamptey....most of Europe has been disarmed. There is no need to remind you that America has not been disarmed. If a bunch of lunatic muslums go around here threatening to kill and terrorize people for putting up a cartoon, you will likely to meet up with some counter protests.
European style protests here will get ugly in a hurry IMO.
Maybe we should declare a Jihad against Rocky Omary and his fifty fellow terrorists. After all, fair is fair.
Oh, I get it. Now it's about doing everything we can to rub the Muslims' noses in cartoons that we know are offensive to them.
IOW, an escalation of the situation.
Yo Rocky, what are you doing living amongst the infidels?
Lighten up a bit Zaki baby! I am a catholic and you can print all of the 'pope headbomb' cartoons that you want and I will not be offended because I know the truth. Obviously you don't.......
Except insane.
It's a cult that hates it's own women. Proof positive that there is no GOD there as far as I am concerned.
You're a kid too, no matter how old you are.
It's so grand to have Middle-Easter brain-trusts define what our Constitution does and doesn't allow.
Multi-cultural my ass. There may be more than one culture acceptable these days, but more and more mine isn't one of them.
They better not even think about talking about the extent of my liberties. That is when I take out my Huskavarna and sleep with my double headed axe.
Overstep my liberties. F* that; that is where I draw the line, when they come in and tell me what my liberties are. I see red.
