"The documents describe how Zana, a veteran King County deputy, contacted teenager Bistryski on the Internet and started a dating relationship with the schizophrenic felon with suicidal tendencies. They moved in together in June 2004."
and:
"The Sheriff's Office did as much as it could by warning Zana," said sheriff's spokesman Sgt. John Urquhart in an e-mail message to the P-I. "There is only so much any employer can do (especially a government employer) to delve into the private life of one of its employees. There is a limit on our authority to control the off-duty relationships of our deputies, like spouses, domestic partners or children. Remember, Chris (Bistryski) wasn't just a roommate. He was Zana's domestic partner, much like your wife or girlfriend."
And that's just "fer starters". Read it at your own risk.
Nice lifestyle, Barney.
"And that's just "fer starters". Read it at your own risk."
I thought you were being a little overly dramatic with the warning, but man this is one bizarre story.
Speechless. Absolutely speechless. The idiocy, compounded on idiocy. Give me a moment to pick my jaw up off the floor.
I think this is the same uniformed freak that King County wanted to can ten years ago but were afraid to because he was a queer. Zana also claimed to be some sort of "psychic observer" or clairvoyant. Freakin loon. I hope the deceased family gets a big payout on this. This is the price we pay when liberal governments ram diversity down our throats
that's what you get with a community that tolerates-no, promotes-immoral, unethical, anti-social behavior and uses PC tactics to hire and promote law officers. talk about strong executive leadership here by these two female "majors."
Records show deputy's troubled past
Zana, whose gun was used in slaying, guilty of missteps, violations
By ERIC NALDER
SEATTLE POST-INTELLIGENCER INVESTIGATIVE REPORTER
The deputy whose .40-caliber handgun was used to kill convenience-store clerk Dimitri Imad Harb deserved to be fired 14 years ago, according to a memo written in 1991 by King County Sheriff Sue Rahr, then an internal-affairs lieutenant.
Ferenc Zana "does not possess the integrity to wear the uniform," Rahr stated in the memo, after an internal-affairs investigation found that Zana had given alcohol and his car to two minors who had an auto accident and then lied about it.
Zana promptly got into more trouble, yet he remained on the force -- despite concerns expressed by his fellow officers.

Just the snub nose or the whole thing?
Sometimes I really wish crap like this was only found on "The Onion".
Sounds like a typical Democrat to me.
after doing some googling, looks like Zana posted to google groups about forming a fight club:

I am in the process of organizing a high school boxing night between
friends. The problem is that the kids are planning are planning to have it
in the open in a makeshift ring, without supervision, and they still don't
know where. There are lots of potential problems with this, including the
violation of a handful of the laws of the State of Washington. All the
problems can be avoided by moving indoors into an accredited pro or amateur
gym, or finding a charitable organization to sponsor it. Even a private
party would do, I am currently checking with my department's legal advisor
on that.
I drew up a proposal to organize an event like this and to make it all
legal, complete with off-duty cops in attendance and refereeing the fights,
medical release forms, a paramedic attending, etc, but I have not been lucky
enough to find an indoor venue to this point.
I will need one of three things to make this happen and to keep it safe. I
can move into a regular martial arts or boxing gym, or find a charitable
organization that allows us to set up a ring and maybe even make it into a
fundraiser for them. This could be a church, YMCA, or something along these
lines. Or, I can work with a private party who has some indoor space and a
generous heart.
You know people, these high school fight clubs are becoming quite popular,
maybe this way we can keep it legal and safe at least. If anyone on this
board knows of a gym or a private party IN THE GREATER EAST SIDE OF KING
COUNTY, WA ONLY, (!) who is willing to accommodate this event, let me know
and I will send an "Event Proposal" to them to explain it in detail.
You can email me at "the....@verizon.net" with ideas.
Thanks, Ferenc
he follows up with:
I was an amateur boxer, and still I used to carry around with me a set of
gloves to school to fight and I often fought with friends with just bare
fists for the fun of it. When you are young, reason sometimes goes out the
window for the sake of the sheer thrill of the excitement and the bragging
rights. Kids these day fight at parties, fight after school, sometimes they
organize with rules, sometimes with just bare fists in a parking lot, and
sometimes they just don;t really like each other and shoot their opponent
with a gun.
Understanding why it is the way it is has nothing to do with solving the
problem. I agree with you if it makes you feel good, but that still leaves
me with a very real problem.... :)
