I can't even read this, I'm so appalled. And afraid! And worried! I have grandchildren in the upstate New York schools!

Back in my day (1980s), if two boys had been caught locking lips in my high school, they probably would have had the crap beaten out of them!

When asked how many of her female friends have had same-sex experiences, Alair answers, “All of them.” Then she stops to think about it. “All right, maybe 80 percent. At least 80 percent of them have experimented. And they still are. It’s either to please a man, or to try it out, or just to be fun, or ’cause you’re bored, or just ’cause you like it . . . whatever.”

So they aren't BORN that way, they're just doing it to do something different. Having sex with guys isn't shocking to their parents anymore, so they'll do the next shocking thing, have sex with other girls.

“In our school,” Elle says, “people are getting a better education, so they’re more open-minded.”

Typical elite attitude; they can do whatever they want because they're so 'open minded'. If they're so educated, how is it they are not aware of how dangerous this kind of sexual activity is, or do they think they're so smart that they won't contract any diseases?

“My mom’s like, ‘Alair, I don’t understand you. I want to be a parent to you but I have no control at all . . . As a person you’re awesome. You’re hilarious, you entertain me, you’re so cool. I would totally be your friend. But as your mother, I’m worried.’ ”

Whatta maroon that pseudo-Mom is! She doesn't want the responsibility of parenting; she wants a 'cool kid' that she can talk about with all of her other clueless friends.

If you have asked to be added to this list, and haven’t been receiving the pings, please let me know. I’ve had a problem with my file synchronization between my home and work computer, and apparently have lost some names on the list. I think I have the problem fixed, and will gladly re-add your name.

"It’s just, whatever . . ."

Was this young man quoting a Roman from the days before they were sacked by Goths? Or as he writing our Republic's epitaph?

I really hate to ask this, but noting that one sings in the Trinity Choir, I wonder if anyone knows how many of these kids are Episcopalian?

If it didn't get boys attention, they wouldn't do it. Hell, it got em in the newspaper, for cryin out loud. It's a great attention getter.

Stuyvesant has some 3,000 students, and Alair’s group numbers a couple dozen.

So really, despite a decade of propaganda by homosexuals, hollywood, and the media...homosexuality still sits right where it did before all this: 1%-2% of the population.

Nope, not a joke. Too bad the article doesn't give the kids' last names. If it did, you could Google their names 10 years from now and see what they turned into.

I went to a snooty prep school and a highly ranked college, and I'm 45, so there's been time to see how my various classmates turned out. The really smart ones (some with excellent grades, some with crappy grades like mine) have nearly all done very well, and we're all paying way more than our proportionate share of the nation's income tax bills. I haven't seen any sign of a correlation between wild social activities during high school and college, and later success as an adult. One of the wilder young ladies I recall from college (also an NYC public magnet school grad) dropped out after her sophomore year because she was so smart she was bored out of her mind. Never went back to school, ended up in a cushy position at Microsoft making oodles of money, and happily married with two children. About 6-7 years ago, when she had more money than she knew what to do with, she quit her position at Microsoft, in favor of doing a little part time consulting for them and staying home with her kids. The activities of the kids in this article (at least to the extent they are revealed) are tame compared to what this friend of mine was up to in college.

Serious drug and alcohol use at that age seems like it has a bit more correlation, but not a lot, since the smarter kids are usually able to realize earlier when those things are starting to having a serious negative effect on their lives, and are better able to plot and execute a strategy to change course. But of course a few are simply lost to life-long battles with their addictions. Even within schools where everyone is in the way smarter than average in terms of IQ, SAT scores, etc., my observation was that heavy drug and alcohol use was mostly among the less smart subset of the student population.

I fear our civilization will hit bottom so hard that there will be no putting it back together again.

"...Meanwhile, they're getting the kind of educations that are necessary to keep the U.S. as the leading economic power in the world..."

Unfortunately, they may learn how to do calculus or program a computer, but they will have no idea what the USA is, what its history really is, what it stands for and its place in the world. There are lots of second and third world calculus whizzes and programmers, people who understand what makes America such a great place to be are getting to be in short supply, and you can bet the teachers at THAT school are giving them their version.
