Good morning, all.
Join us today for the final victory lap, the vote to "confirm Samuel Alito, of New Jersey, to be an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court."
It's all over except the final vote tally.
Lots of surprises yesterday at the HUGE vote to impose cloture, so perhaps there are still some surprise votes to come?

well, maybe one or two of the libs will feel so uncomfortable with all of these conservatives that they will retire or maybe get such a headache or bout of constipation that they will medically have to in the next three years. Imagine the nuclear option will be needed in that case. We ain't seen nuthin yet if W gets to tip the bench even further to the middle.

Jim Angle on FoxNews saying there's much rancor and bitterness on the Senate floor today which will take some time to work itself out.
Yeah right. Like there wasn't any rancor or bitterness before today PfffT!

Jack Reed dragging up Harriet Miers's nomination. We owe Harriet Miers a sincere thank you for withdrawing her nomination.
Without her graceful action, this moment could not have happened.

I just heard on CNN that 2,000 pregnant women died just now as a result of not being able to get an abortion! Bush's fault!

But then you can work at the state level - with the state congresspeople to work to overturn it.
Doing that is much easier to pressure the congresspeople when they live down the street, instead of in DC.
