[history]
Good morning, all.
Join us today for the final victory lap, the vote to "confirm Samuel Alito, of New Jersey, to be an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court."
It's all over except the final vote tally.
Lots of surprises yesterday at the HUGE vote to impose cloture, so perhaps there are still some surprise votes to come?
TOPICS: Breaking News; Politics/Elections

On Constitutional issues, I'm happy if he is one of five.

Let me first say I am against abortion. There are other alternatives, but gleefully pushing coat hangers as an alternative is ignorant and frankly mean spirited.
Having said that, your attitude is repulsive and cruel. You seems to think it is OK to use a coat hanger for an abortion AS JUSTICE. Now, that sounds more like you want to punish the woman for getting pregnant. You seem to have no regard for the baby. You make me sick.
Sorry dear but grow up. You have no compassion for the woman or baby and are rude and crude. The comment about women is also out of line. You lump all women who are pregnant unexpectedly as irresponsible. The pill and other contraceptives are not fool proof and often young girls ARE taken advantage of. Shame on you.

At least one DUer gets it: Democrats have been losing for 12 years because they no longer stand for anything. "I hate Bush" is not a platform. As long as democrats continue for give quotes, bitch and moan, and demand filibusters without the intent of following through, they will contiue to lose.
Probably a "Lousy FReeper Troll".

Thank God!
And let's continue to pray that this is another step toward ending abortion in America.

One thing was apparent - there are very few Senators - either Republican or Democrat, that are good public speakers. I completely agree. Compared to watching the British House of Commons or something, this looked like a junior high school english class..

I mentioned this pet theory of mine earlier..that Stevens has already told W he'd liek to retire after this term...IOW, W gets to announce a nominee this fall, and it becomes a major issue in the election..so W names JRB....

Perhaps we should now stop in gratitude and recognition of the role of Divine Providence, once again, in the affairs of this nation.

Well Darn! I had a dentist appointment that I've been dreading for about 6 months this morning, and thought I would get back in time for the vote!
I missed everything so far this morning, but this is yet another great day to be a Republican!! And we get the SOTU tonight.
I'm a very happy camper!
To: Pukin Dog
Defeated Democrats just make my day. Now we have to step over their bodies.
