Good Monday morning, fellow Freeper political junkies. One of the more ridiculous episodes of political theater is about to play itself out on the Senate floor, as the John Kerry-led democrats mount an exercise in political futility which will further expose their total irrelevance..So join us today, or drop in on occasion, for the festivities...
Maybe we could get someone to dress up like a cadaver and hold that sign and picket Teddy at Capitol Hill.
The August 1992 confrontation between federal agents and the Randy Weaver family in Ruby Ridge ...
That was before Reno's watch.
"Workers Right" = code word for Communism.

Kennedy Leads Final Effort to Block Alito
By JESSE J. HOLLAND, Associated Press Writer 3 minutes ago
WASHINGTON - Liberal Democrats waged an eleventh-hour attempt Monday to block
Samuel Alito's Supreme Court confirmation, arguing that he would tilt the high court further to the right.
GOP Sen. Lincoln Chafee (news, bio, voting record) of Rhode Island also announced that he would vote against Alito's confirmation. Chafee, a self-described "pro-choice, pro-environment, pro-Bill of Rights Republican," is the only member of the Republican Party so far to announce that he will vote against the conservative judge.
Chafee refused to support the Democrats' filibuster attempt, however. "How are we going to get anything done if we can't work together?" Chafee asked.
But liberal Democrats say that Alito a former federal prosecutor and conservative lawyer for the Reagan administration would put individual rights and liberties in danger.
"I think he is the wrong judge at the wrong time in the wrong place," said Sen. Edward Kennedy (news, bio, voting record), D-Mass., a longtime liberal stalwart. "I do not believe he is going to be part of the whole movement of the continued march towards progress in this country."
Added Sen. Jim Jeffords of Vermont, the chamber's lone independent: "The addition of Judge Alito would unacceptably shift the balance of the court on many critical issues facing our country."

Does anyone know if Cheney will be on hand today?
Sooooo cool! Two for the price of one. THANK YOU!
bigjoesaddle described on another thread a few days back, how hard it was for him to dig up this Ted Kennedy artwork. No surprise, considering how the MSM avoids anything critical of Kennedy.
But a GREAT cartoon that needs lots of views.
Time to get out the clock cleaning solution as Lindsey Graham has stated.
And sometimes the glass really IS half-empty. Failure to realize this is to deny reality and hence the real need to change. Let them continue in their deluded state of optimism. They cannot be helped.
Semper Fi
"The DU'ers are claiming victory, even if the filibuster fails. They're saying that any filibuster means that the Dems are listening to them. Which is fine with me. The farther left that party's base gets, the happier I am."
The Daily Kos was claiming that last night also

I'll repeat some words of inspiration from our greatest President:
Neither let us be slandered from our duty by false accusations against us, nor frightened from it by menaces of destruction to the Government nor of dungeons to ourselves. LET US HAVE FAITH THAT RIGHT MAKES MIGHT, AND IN THAT FAITH, LET US, TO THE END, DARE TO DO OUR DUTY AS WE UNDERSTAND IT.
We support extended debate on the nomination of Samuel Alito to the Supreme Court of the United States because it is the right thing to do.
Does anybody here want to chip in and buy Kennedy a case of whiskey to thank him for helping us get Judge Alito confirmed?
I just heard that a Republican has announced that he will be voting no on Alito. I didn't catch his/her name. Do you know who it is?
I don't think he needs to be there. It'll be up to Frist to decide whether or not to call for his presence.

DEAN UNDER FIRE FROM PARTY DEMS; NEARLY ALL CASH SPENT Mon Jan 30 2006 10:52:31 ET
Democratic leaders on Capitol Hill are privately bristling over Howard Deans management of the Democratic National Committee and have made those sentiments clear after new fundraising numbers showed he has spent nearly all the committees cash and has little left to support their efforts to gain seats this cycle, ROLL CALL reports.
Congressional leaders were furious last week when they learned the DNC has just $5.5 million in the bank, compared to the Republican National Committees $34 million.
Senate and House Minority Leaders Harry Reid (Nev.) and Nancy Pelosi (Calif.), along with the Senate and House campaign committee chairmen Charles Schumer (N.Y.) and Rahm Emanuel (Ill.), have made their concerns -- directly or indirectly -- known to Dean, claims the paper.
Emanuel was particularly upset last week upon seeing the latest DNC numbers.
A lot of people are scratching their heads as to whats going on, said one senior Democratic aide.
Another Democratic source familiar with the party fundraising apparatus said there is obvious displeasure among the leaders.

Thanks for that info.
Hey it's his birthday...
Cheney is only required to cast a tie-breaking vote. All indications are that he won't be needed in this instance, since it won't even be a tie.
