Good Monday morning, fellow Freeper political junkies. One of the more ridiculous episodes of political theater is about to play itself out on the Senate floor, as the John Kerry-led democrats mount an exercise in political futility which will further expose their total irrelevance..So join us today, or drop in on occasion, for the festivities...

Inhofe: Democrats voted for national security 20 something percent of the time. Republicans 80 something percent of the time.

(He had exact percentages but I missed them)

Democrats voted pro-defense 25% of the time. Republicans 75% of the time. That tells you what their stance is on national defense.

Inhofe: President Bush inherited a recession. He also inherited international challenges. In Iraq - the oil for food scandal.

DU is back open!! I just found this little gem:

I'm Frickin' Tired Of Looking On The Bright Side!!! We LOSE EVERY SINGLE TIME! Not just on the big things, not just on the little things....not just on the court cases, the wars, the economy, etc. etc........BUT EVERYTHING! This country is headed a certain way, and every single day that passes, I begin to realize I don't think I belong here much longer. I feel confined and trapped due to not having financial means to retire somewhere overseas....because if I did I might consider it. Someday.....but will I make it to that someday by continuing to live here. That's the real question.

Does it get any better than that?

Hagel (R-NE), Not Voting ???

I'm betting it's got something to do with the NSA program. Hagel's constantly lobbying for Terrorist rights.

Inhofe: After the first Gulf War, I went to Kuwait and met with a prominent Kuwaiti. Iraqis didn't know the war was over. They were still burning oil fields.

The Kuwaiti found that Hussein had used his home for Iraqi troops and his daughter's room was used as a torture room. There were ears and body parts in that girl's bedroom. (Inhofe was there with them when they found their house in that condition).

Inhofe talking about babies with their eyes gouged out and heads bashed against a wall. The only reason we went to Iraq wasn't WMD.

Damn, that is worth saluting. Perhaps Alex Baldwin has set small minds in motion.

DU is back up and some poor guy is saying the DUmmies really won today because without their phone calls, e-mails, etc. there would have been no filibuster at all.

I hate to break it to this guy, but there was NO filibuster. If Frist's request for cloture had failed to get 60 votes, then there would have been a filibuster. That filibuster would have either succeeded in stopping Alito's confirmation (if cloture never did get invoked) or failed after a pretty good fight (if cloture was finally invoked on the second, third, fourth, etc. attempt). Or the filibuster could have been nuked by the nuclear option.

But since cloture was easily achieved on the routine first request from Senator Frist, there never really was a filibuster. It was a faux filibuster which never had the votes to block even the routine first request for cloture. It wasn't even close.
