Sources close to the Lieutenant Governor reveal to The Louisiana Weekly that Mitch Landrieu will run for Mayor of New Orleans in the April 22 primary.
With qualifying less than a month away, almost ever political observer views Landrieu as the immediate front runner, as problems continue to mount for incumbent Mayor Ray Nagin.
Landrieu's decision is only the latest development in what is becoming the most eventful election year in recent memory. In a normal election cycle, 2006 would be a somewhat dull election year. But no more. Voters will cast ballots in possibly three statewide elections, a series of "hot" congressional matches, as well as citywide races in New Orleans.

Hey, here is good job for Hitlery. She would be right at home with the crime, thuggery, corruption and useless and ineffective liberal state government...

Good place for her, other than federal prison.

The most disturbing aspect of this is that Mitch has kept a lower profile and kinda flies under the radar.Unfortunately many here dont educate themselves about politics but just vote for whom theyre told. It would be awful if he did get elected mayor of NO then used that as a stepping stone into the governorship. One good thing is that much of the machine's base is scattered over the country. It's funny to see the liberals kicking and screaming to get their hands on the evacuee lists from FEMA to garner more votes (illegally of course since many of these people have no intent to return). I read that the ACLU is coming out against releasing the information b/c of privacy issues. HA!

Nagin may as well pack his bags as with all his other challengers. Mitch Landrieu will will in a landslide.

Dynastic politics! Here we go again!
The MAIN problem with N.O. politics is that certain, powerful, families get entrenched and keep running their sisters/brothers/MawMaws/toddlers- whoever has the name recognition. And they get re-elected again and again and people wonder why things stay the same.

The most Republican area in New Orleans was Lakeveiw and it was wiped off the map. The only areas that are currently up and running are strong democratic areas.
