Jim Lehrer (PBS) ridicules Kerry for calling for filibuster from "the ski slopes"; Democrats furious
PBS ^ | January 27, 2006 | nwrep

Jim Lehrer, on his NewsHour program on PBS on Friday night, ridiculed John Kerry for calling for filibuster from "the ski slopes." Click the link above for the entire transcript. Liberal Mark Shields and conservative columnist David Brooks both joined Lehrer for some Kerry bashing.

This exchange is making left-wing radicals furious, who are now calling Mark Shields a "Republican stooge" and a "Fox News Democrat." One leftist website had this to say to Mark Shields, long time CNN analyst:

"This is the most despicable performance in your long career of pretending to be a Democrat. If you love George Bush with such devotion, then go register as a Republican today. Better yet, pick up a gun and go fight his disastrous war in Iraq. And give your "Democratic" spot on PBS to a REAL Democrat - someone with the cojones to stand up to the Emperor Without Clothes and his mouthpiece, Jim Lehrer!"

Agreed. It made sense for the Dems to nominate Kerry in 2004 because he represents the Dem view perfectly, and there really wasn't anyone who had any chance of beating Bush anyway. Now that they have a chance to win, they'd be crazy to waste their vote on someone who can't win just because he represents their views.

Don't forget one biggie...the clintons didn't want anyone running in 2004 who could win the WH. That would have upset their apple cart!

ut, then, I'm not afraid of other viewpoints, and I'm not afraid to think.

I suspect you are rather demonstrably afraid of thought and merely like PBS because it coverage most fits your own personal prejudices. Been my experience that anyone who has to boast of their ability to "Think" is actually rationalizing an inability to reason critically at all. Usually turns out the "thinker" merely assumes they are "thinking" because their fringe views are rejected by the vast majority. Rather then THINK, hmmm, why do 9 our of 10 people think I am an idiot, they ASSUME everyone ELSE is the idiot and THEY are "the great thinker". Brickbats?

Hardly. No reason to use a sledgehammer to crack a peanut.

Once the Harvard Feminazis release Larry Summers from the Bella Abzug Memorial Re-Education Camp, Larry, while loudly championing the complete indistinguishably and absolute equality of men and women, will loudly declare that there is complete academic freedom at Harvard. Ward Churchill will vehemently agree.

Isn't this a permanent condition?

"concur. I will actually go a step further and state that I think PBS has better and more informative programs than any other broadcast network"

Name for me three positve, informative programs aired by PBS that highlite all the GOOD things happening in Iraq and or Afganistan or that highlite the roots and backgrounds of Islamic Terrorism.

Name for me three shows provided by PBS that provide a right of center viewpoint on ANY social or political topic?

This is what Kerry's platonic friend, Alexandra Polier (the "intern") said about Davos (where she met Kerry almost exactly 5 years ago.)
I met John Kerry for the first time in January 2001, in Davos, Switzerland...
Although it presents itself as a serious policy machine, Davos’s real point is, of course, networking...
The third day of the conference was my birthday. It was also the evening of the Davos gala, the big social event of the weekend. It was surreal. I hung at the bar next to Naomi Campbell and drank champagne with eBay chairman Pierre Omidyar as a dozen synchronized swimmers glittered in the pool behind us.

You are right, of course, but neither do any of the big 3 broadcast networks.

In all this I just hope that it is the left side of the Democratic Party that sheers off. If Dems start leaving the right side of the Party guess where they will come? The Republican Party already has enough of these confused chiropterans.

just a variation on the Lifestyle of the Linousine Liberal.

Kerry is a Senatorial Jet Setter
John Kerry would rather hobnob with the jetset, than do his day job.
His presence at Davos won't draw any "Bravos,"
The guy's a well-manicured snob.

Is that Michael Douglas in your photo? What the hell is he doing there? I hope Rosi O'Doughnut it there as well so her important voice is heard, too.

I think what the author meant to write was:
When, visibly shaken, I arrived at the visibly shaken university studio for the visibly shaken televised trans-Atlantic debate with a visibly shaken George Soros, the visibly shaken financier, and other visibly shaken representatives of the visibily shaken global elite gathered in the visibly shaken city of Davos, Switzerland. A visibly shaken Florian Rochat of the visibly shaken Swiss delegation was visibly shaken, and waiting for me, who was visibly shaken.

The visibly shaken Swiss are known for being visibly shaken and impassive, but a visibly shaken Florian was visibly shaken. "They are arresting visibly shaken protestors in a visibly shaken Davos and other visibly shaken places in a visibly shaken Switzerland," he told me, visibly shaken. "They’re visibly shaking democracy in our visibly shaken country. Our visibly shaken friends there are visibly shaken, and in a visibly shaken manner they are asking you, who are visibly shaken, to support them in calling for the shutting down of the visibly shaken World Economic Forum, which is visibly shaking everything."

Things are going to get worse for the Democrats before they get any better. If Kerry can't get traction soon he will revert back to his tried and true methods of character assignation. The Barrett Report will be leaked.

Southern Democrats are trying to get their primaries moved up because they are tired of unelectable Northeaster liberals having the nomination locked up before swinging south.

And then there is GW. He has been giving Dems fits for a long time. (HAHAHAHA)

Guess you did not see the Gallup poll where 51% of respondents said they would definitely NOT vote for Hillary in 2008. REALLY bad news when a slanted Left poll like Gallup cannot even find a majority in favor of Hilly.

I worked in the news biz for 10 years, and I'll tell you why you're mistaken.

The libs need to position Hillary as 'come from behind', 'an underdog', 'against all odds', 'longshot', etc.

They do this by first implanting the idea that she can't win, then feigning amazement when she does (don't you believe for a moment that her people were not involved with- and taking copious notes about- Gore's recount fiasco in Florida... you ain't never seen cheating like we're going to see in 2008 ).

I've seen it set up and executed from the inside-out dozens of times.

We must not let down our guard for even a moment.

It is always amusing when PBS or NPR has a conservative (I know it is a rare thing) on. The liberal callers and commentators are incensed that someone else is encroaching on their territory.
