Despite assurances from government officials that the border with Mexico is secure, a Department of Homeland Security document obtained by the Daily Bulletin reveals that law enforcement officials are seeking five Mexican nationals suspected of bringing explosives into the United States.The internal "Intelligence Alert" from the Office of Border Patrol -- issued to law enforcement officials Jan. 12 -- stated that the Mexican nationals were heading to San Francisco to sell the explosives.

That should be to USE the explosives. They aren't selling them for no reason. I'd be pretty worried if I lived in a city these days. The border needs to be closed!!!!!!!!!!!!
A twenty foot high wall with barbed wire, land mines and a moat filled with alligators and pirranahs should about do the trick. Not to mention the armed guards.

Isnt it funny how not one of those pointy head liberal elitist reporters posed a question to Bush at his press conference on Thursday re. border security and illegal immigration. No one cares about tapping phone conversations of suspected AlQuida members but that is all they kept asking him about.

I cant wait for his state of the union speech where Bush will try to force the Amnesty issue on us - just like his dad Bush is an elitist that ignores his base. When the republicans get voted out of office it will be Bush/Rove's undoing for the most part.

I sure hope so but it happened once a little over 5 years ago and I don't see any significant change except that now it's harder for your average American citizen to travel by plane. If something like this happens again, I wouldn't want to look muslim in this country. While there may no be any government action without huge public outcry, and I expect it would be minimal at best, just enough to quiet the masses, I think the average citizen will be much more willing to take action himself.

If you recall, Bush was seemed just days or weeks away from an amnesty deal with Fox until 9/11 happened (remember that tour Vincent took of Chicago, where he rode a white horse to cheering Mexicans as if in victory?). And of course Afghanistan and Iraq hadn't happened. Plus now we have national drivers license standards which all states must meet next year.

So I think we got at least something. And amnesty since then has been near impossible. However, in any sane country a wall along the Mexican border would have shot up after 9/11, and employers with illegals on the payroll would have zoomed into their own federal prison cells.

I think you're right, if it happens again it will get real ugly on a personal level. On a national level it will be huge, but what exactly will happen I can't quite imagine. Impeaching Bush, to replace him with Chenny? Who knows what will happen, but now I fear odds are against there not being another mass murder in the U.S.A.

No Bush isn't seeking "big money" from "businesses for cheap labor". I'd bet he'd like to eliminate over priced unions from extorting high wages which in turn translate to over priced products. What he wants is to keep wages in line for this kind of work.

What Bush has to get real on is that not everyone sneaking over here is looking for a "better life" and wanting to pay social security to minimize the HUGE bill coming due. While Americans are murdering 48 million babies a year or four thousand babies a day, SOME of the illegals are contributing to our economy and others are paying social security that are legal. THIS is the group he wants, however it must be done legally and they need to be carefully screened and illegals thrown the hell out of here.
