The Religion of Science (Evolution as Faith!)
CHJ ^ | Jan 14, 2006 | Nathan Tabor

How can someone observe, study or experiment on evolution? Evolution is the process of something moving from one stage of development to another. What do we really have to scientifically prove evolution?

A scientist might have a fossil, but we can only speculate as to the age and appearance of the animal creating that fossil. No one has ever witnessed evolution of life, no one here now was there to observe, study and experiment. Like it or not, we can only form theories and beliefs about what might have been. As sound as these theories might be, they are and will always be theories. Evolution is simply a system of belief based on what we think might have happened. Those who believe in evolution have faith in the scientist’s abilities to speculate and imagine what might have been. This is not science. This is faith.

It is time we removed the phony and inaccurate label of ‘science’ from evolution and see it for what it really is - a religion, based on faith and a system of belief. If public schools are not allowed to teach religion, then the theories of evolution have no place in a public school classroom. If they are allowed to teach theories based on faith, like evolution, then creationism should be taught also.

I guess he believes geology is also faith.

Five hundred years ago these would have been the same people that put Galileo in jail for saying the earth goes around the sun!

Whenever Creationist want to denigrate evolution, they call it a religion.

Don't know how that works

Evolution has morphed into an ideology. Totally hostile to the idea of a creator and is often hostile to science itself, when any research challenges its dogma (like the work of Michael J. Behe). The ideology of evolution is the foundation of all modern atheistic ‘isms... and does not tolerate being questioned! Like other totalitarian ideologies… it tries to outlaw and persecute any alternatives offered. Otherwise, why do courts, lawyers and lawmakers need to be involved in science debates?

The only folks on the current political scene who disagree with the theory of evolution in this manner get their impetus from the bible, particularly the creation story.

You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can not fool all of the people all of the time.
Abraham Lincoln (1861-1865)

You are proving nothing, Coyoteman. You are just mudslinging, in the true sense of the word. You are not really slandering, but you are covering up all the important details with irrelevant rhetoric that distracts from the real issues.

Not mudslinging at all; actually I am trying to remind you that evolution, along with a multitude of other disciplines, are sciences. They rely on the same methods.

For some reason, only evolution is singled out as being "evil," "cultists" and "nazis" (to quote from previous posts).

Could religious belief, rather than science, have a role in these accusations?

I'm 65 and have witnessed evolution in my lifetime. The average weight of women has increase from ~114 lbs. to ~200 lbs. They no longer walk but waddle. Their knees and ankles will no longer support them and they have adapted to battery driven carts. I fear that the ID has made them compulsive and that they will consume so much they will become round and just roll along. ID inspired this evolution and I hold ID responsible. Pretty soon there will just be round men bouncing off round women.

So do all the environmental stimuli effect each biological system identically? and What are the various environmental stimuli that would cause mutations? I know climate or availability of food, predators, are a few. What are the others and which are the most critical ones?

OH... Goody! Another Crevo thread.

Maybe this'll be the one that settles the matter. Somebody ping me if that happens, OK? :-)

First 11 Chapters of Genesis lay down all the major doctrines of the New Testament. If one error can be found in those 11 chapters then the whole book could be called a falsehood. Reminds me of the crafty serpent (Satan) "Did God really say...???
Romans 1 says that what is evident about God can be clearly seen through His creation thus leaving man without an excuse.
Whether one believes or doesn't believe in judgement after death doesn't matter. Shock, horror, sadness, guilt, hopelessness, bitterness, anger, crying, screaming, and a mouth that can finally not say a word will be seen many times that day.
"Away from Me, for I never knew you", will be heard from the mouth of the One they say doesn't exit.
