EXCLUSIVE: Pakistani Military Sources Say Zawahiri May Be Dead

Jan. 13, 2006 — Today, according to Pakistani military sources, U.S. aircraft attacked a compound known to be frequented by high level al Qaeda operatives. Pakistani officials tell ABC News that al Qaeda leader Dr. Ayman al-Zawahiri, Osama bin Laden's top lieutenant, may have been among them.

U.S. intelligence for the last few days indicated that Zawahiri might be in the location or about to arrive, although there is still no confirmation from U.S. officials that he was among the victims.

On the other hand, presumably there were some fatalities. Unfortunately it doesn't seem as tho this snake will die when the head is cut off.

There is no way we hit a village in the dead of night without 100% proof Zawahiri was there....to many innocents in the neighborhood.

They said Osama bin Ladin's deputy, who has been known to stay at houses in the village, may have been one of the victims.

Gee, according to this Rooters story on the Gulf News website, there've never been any furriners in the village before. From the link:

Well gee, what side are you rooting for?Check my posts from the past for confirmation that I am on the same side you are. I was not commenting on the righteousness of getting Zawa. My son called me from a restaurant when he saw the first bulletins on a TV. He was thrilled and knew I would be. Good kid. I just though it was strange that they basically said "I am really, really sure we might have got him." The MIGHT just takes the edge of certainty off, a bit.
