At Least McCarthy Had A Point
Vanity ^ | 12 January 2006 | .cnI redruM

Posted on 01/12/2006 7:21:34 AM PST by .cnI redruM

When Lewis Carrol wrote Through The Looking Glass he displayed remarkable imagination and verve. He even lacked the role model of Edward Kennedy upon which to draw his caricatures of shoddy and irrational politicians. If the Senate Confirmation Hearings for Samuel Alito have offered America any new insights, the paramount one would have to be that Senator Kennedy has lost any remaining graveman or gravitas that he may have once possessed.

The Good Senator’s inquisition against Judge Alito has failed to produce any perfidy that would rate higher than a venal sin, if we were take a step back from the fray and judge the Candidate Judge from a perch of sobriety. Apparently, Senator Kennedy sat elsewhere as he poured over Judge Alito’s resume with the gimlet eye for any excuse to burn President Bush’s latest SCOTUS nominee at the stake.

Kennedy rambled aimlessly through a prolonged set of questioning before finally fixing heat-seeking polemic radar on the fact that Judge Alito belonged to an exclusive Conservative alumni club after graduating from Princeton University. Having belonged to a similar organization himself back at Harvard, Senator Kennedy remembered how exclusive these clubs could be and felt this line of attack could successfully impugn the nominee if the Senator were to use it as he inveighed.

It seems Judge Alito’s membership in now-defunct Concerned Alumni of Princeton has made the ghost of the now-ridiculed John Birch Society haunt several of Senator Kennedy’s recent delirium tremens. Unlike Senator Kennedy’s exclusive all-male club, Alito’s was conservative, which makes it DIFFERENT. This led Senator Kennedy to demand of Senator Arlen Specter that The Senate Judiciary Committee hold a closed meeting and subpoena all written correspondence from The Concerned Alumni of Princeton.

Fortunately for the nation as a whole, Chairman Arlen Specter decided he enjoyed being Chairman and that Senator Kennedy would make a poor substitute if Specter allowed a coup. He informed Senator Kennedy that there would be no pointless fishing expeditions into decades old documents from defunct college alumni societies. Unlike Senator Kennedy’s late brother Robert, Edward Kennedy would have no grandstand from which to sortie against the character of his political opponents.

Which brings me to a conclusion regarding Senator Kennedy’s meandering attempt to reprise the McCarthy Hearings as a tactic to forestall President Bush’s latest nominee to sit on The United States Supreme Court; like McCarthy, Kennedy was viscous and unfair. Also like McCarthy, Kennedy played fast and loose with facts, and relied upon appearances and grossly circumstantial evidence to portray his political enemies in the worst light possible. However, the similarities end here.

McCarthy did what he did in pursuit of the defense of his country. His error was to use nefarious means in pursuit of a laudable end. Kennedy makes no mistakes and has no delusions except of his own adequacy as an elected representative of the people. Kennedy uses the most distorted lens of unfocused bias to caricature those he seeks to derail. He knows that he spews untruth every time he twitches a lip.

A final and very key difference came to light when The Berlin Wall fell and the world perused the written archives of the fallen Soviet Government. McCarthy may have been picked off first base when he through the entire anti-communist phone book at Lucille Ball, but he, unlike Senator Kennedy was fighting an enemy that really existed, and actively sought the demise of The United States.

Senator McCarthy had something that utterly eludes The Bay State Breeze Bag and Chappaquiddick Nautical Chauffer. Senator McCarthy had a point.

What defined his as paranoid? Simply put he provided a public display of the mental illness.

Well, that was simple, I'll give you that.

Let us not be so supportive of the noble cause that we champion a sick man. Its not a "liberal" view, he was a drunk.

I am not championing his drunkeness, I am championing his politics. Kudos to any man who even in an alcoholic haze had enough sense to see that there were indeed commies among us, and that they had in fact, infiltrated our government. Joseph McCarthy was the Christopher Columbus of politics: Right about the big picture, wrong about the details. There is far more mythology on the liberal side about this man than on the conservative side, IIRC, while they demonized McCarthy as the epitome of human evil they were refering to Stalin as "Uncle Joe". I don't care how paranoid you may think McCarthy was, it pales in comparison to that level of myopia.

Just as we overcome an illness when we are strong so to did American overcome any red fifth columists.

Because of the fortitude of paranoid Americans like Joe McCarthy who held "godless communism" in contempt.

That my friends is what it comes down to, how much faith do you have in America, I for one believe our system is true and its goodness so clear that it will prevail against any rival, Mr.McCarthy lacked such a faith.

My faith is in God. Empires rise and fall and nobody ever sees it coming. It's goodness is not prevailing for our schools that had God ripped out of them or for the 1.5 million children which are killed legally per year. But it works quite well if you own a casino or trade in pornography. I guess we've reached some kind of Hegelian synthesis: we've acheived godless capitalism.

I hate to break up the McCarthy lovefest but he essentiualy was a paranoid bully

Excuse me, but if you can find it, pick up Buckley and Bozell's McCarthy and His Enemies. In the back is a detailed list of the charges made by Joe McCarthy and the actual facts of the cases. It shows that, as has been pointed out here, SENATOR McCARTHY WAS RIGHT.

it showed a disturbing lack of faith in the correctness of the American system. Our founding fathers built a mighty body politic, one that was more than capable of shaking off anyone selling communism.

UInfortunately, they had infiltrated the highest levels of our government, as you know. They were in control of significant levers of power, and the Democrat administrations would not do anything about the problem. The Venona documents bear this out, contemporary history bears it out, and writers such as Coulter have shown it to be true also.

Take Dorothy Franklin. She was a person allegedly wronged by McCarthy, who allegedly accused her of being a Communist. In fact, what he did was point out her position in the government and note that she was a member of some Communist front groups. (I believe it was three of them.) In fact, she was a member and they were front groups. But the press was so eager to destroy the anti-Communist cause that they took up the likes of Dorothy Franklin.

Now, some years later, somehow, Franklin weaseled her way into a spot in one of Scoop Jackson's campaigns. That great right-winger Nelson Rockefeller publicly asked why Jackson was employing a former Communist on his campaign.

Did you know that EVERY American signer of teh UN Compact except Secretary of State Rusk was a Communist?

What exactly is so amazing about Venona? Why should anyone be the least bit surprised to learn that our cold war rival was trying to undermine us? Thats about as shocking as the NSA listening to Al Qaeda, its something so obvious and logical it goes without saying. It was all for naught since the communist product had little chance of catching on. Do you really believe our nation was ever in danger of going communist and if so how do you see the rogue behavior a drunken McCarthy thwarting it? Did he ever convict anyone? No.

What is it about certain conservatives that they feel the need to redeem those who have hurt the movement? Is that really the standard you want to march with? A man so out of control he has become an imfamous icon for witch-hunting? It may have helped Coulter establish a reputation but it in terms of continuing conservative gains he's not someone you'd want to showcase... Its like when the dems let Kennedy speak in the primetime convention spot.

Communist Goals (1963)

Documention below

________________________________________

Congressional Record--Appendix, pp. A34-A35

January 10, 1963

Current Communist Goals

EXTENSION OF REMARKS OF HON. A. S. HERLONG, JR. OF FLORIDA

IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

Thursday, January 10, 1963

Mr. HERLONG. Mr. Speaker, Mrs. Patricia Nordman of De Land, Fla., is an ardent and articulate opponent of communism, and until recently published the De Land Courier, which she dedicated to the purpose of alerting the public to the dangers of communism in America.

At Mrs. Nordman's request, I include in the RECORD, under unanimous consent, the following "Current Communist Goals," which she identifies as an excerpt from "The Naked Communist," by Cleon Skousen:

[From "The Naked Communist," by Cleon Skousen]

CURRENT COMMUNIST GOALS

1. U.S. acceptance of coexistence as the only alternative to atomic war.

2. U.S. willingness to capitulate in preference to engaging in atomic war.

3. Develop the illusion that total disarmament [by] the United States would be a demonstration of moral strength.

4. Permit free trade between all nations regardless of Communist affiliation and regardless of whether or not items could be used for war.

5. Extension of long-term loans to Russia and Soviet satellites.

6. Provide American aid to all nations regardless of Communist domination.

7. Grant recognition of Red China. Admission of Red China to the U.N.

8. Set up East and West Germany as separate states in spite of Khrushchev's promise in 1955 to settle the German question by free elections under supervision of the U.N.

9. Prolong the conferences to ban atomic tests because the United States has agreed to suspend tests as long as negotiations are in progress.

10. Allow all Soviet satellites individual representation in the U.N.

11. Promote the U.N. as the only hope for mankind. If its charter is rewritten, demand that it be set up as a one-world government with its own independent armed forces. (Some Communist leaders believe the world can be taken over as easily by the U.N. as by Moscow. Sometimes these two centers compete with each other as they are now doing in the Congo.)

12. Resist any attempt to outlaw the Communist Party.

13. Do away with all loyalty oaths.

14. Continue giving Russia access to the U.S. Patent Office.

15. Capture one or both of the political parties in the United States.

16. Use technical decisions of the courts to weaken basic American institutions by claiming their activities violate civil rights.

17. Get control of the schools. Use them as transmission belts for socialism and current Communist propaganda. Soften the curriculum. Get control of teachers' associations. Put the party line in textbooks.

18. Gain control of all student newspapers.

19. Use student riots to foment public protests against programs or organizations which are under Communist attack.

20. Infiltrate the press. Get control of book-review assignments, editorial writing, policymaking positions.

21. Gain control of key positions in radio, TV, and motion pictures.

22. Continue discrediting American culture by degrading all forms of artistic expression. An American Communist cell was told to "eliminate all good sculpture from parks and buildings, substitute shapeless, awkward and meaningless forms."

23. Control art critics and directors of art museums. "Our plan is to promote ugliness, repulsive, meaningless art."

24. Eliminate all laws governing obscenity by calling them "censorship" and a violation of free speech and free press.

25. Break down cultural standards of morality by promoting pornography and obscenity in books, magazines, motion pictures, radio, and TV.

26. Present homosexuality, degeneracy and promiscuity as "normal, natural, healthy."

27. Infiltrate the churches and replace revealed religion with "social" religion. Discredit the Bible and emphasize the need for intellectual maturity which does not need a "religious crutch."

28. Eliminate prayer or any phase of religious expression in the schools on the ground that it violates the principle of "separation of church and state."

29. Discredit the American Constitution by calling it inadequate, old-fashioned, out of step with modern needs, a hindrance to cooperation between nations on a worldwide basis.

30. Discredit the American Founding Fathers. Present them as selfish aristocrats who had no concern for the "common man."

31. Belittle all forms of American culture and discourage the teaching of American history on the ground that it was only a minor part of the "big picture." Give more emphasis to Russian history since the Communists took over.

32. Support any socialist movement to give centralized control over any part of the culture--education, social agencies, welfare programs, mental health clinics, etc.

33. Eliminate all laws or procedures which interfere with the operation of the Communist apparatus.

34. Eliminate the House Committee on Un-American Activities.

35. Discredit and eventually dismantle the FBI.

36. Infiltrate and gain control of more unions.

37. Infiltrate and gain control of big business.

38. Transfer some of the powers of arrest from the police to social agencies. Treat all behavioral problems as psychiatric disorders which no one but psychiatrists can understand [or treat].

39. Dominate the psychiatric profession and use mental health laws as a means of gaining coercive control over those who oppose Communist goals.

40. Discredit the family as an institution. Encourage promiscuity and easy divorce.

41. Emphasize the need to raise children away from the negative influence of parents. Attribute prejudices, mental blocks and retarding of children to suppressive influence of parents.

42. Create the impression that violence and insurrection are legitimate aspects of the American tradition; that students and special-interest groups should rise up and use ["]united force["] to solve economic, political or social problems.

43. Overthrow all colonial governments before native populations are ready for self-government.

44. Internationalize the Panama Canal.

45. Repeal the Connally reservation so the United States cannot prevent the World Court from seizing jurisdiction [over domestic problems. Give the World Court jurisdiction] over nations and individuals alike.

"He simply went too far in how he went about his work and often went after people who were not guilty."

Actually, Ann Coulter addressed that in her heavilly footnoted book, 'Treason', which while dogmatically opposed, was never discredited. More lies and negative spin, IMHO. According to 'Treason', it was the left who forced McCarthy to publicly name anyone. He always kept the names anonymous until pressured to go public by his critics.

To: TradicalRC; Blurblogger

TraditionalRC wrote something that finally inspired me to say it like it is, to publicly piece the puzzle together.

"Because of the fortitude of paranoid Americans like Joe McCarthy who held "godless communism" in contempt."

It's funny. Just look at America today, and the forces that seek to unify anyone with a sexual vice, any non-Christian, any enviro-wacko, any non-white, ANY WOMAN, the poor, anyone in the college scene, anyone looking for research funding, and what are they supposed to be united against? Christian conservative men of European descent. [Thank God many are not.]

Here are places that act as though they are sold out against white Christian conservative men to this day:

1. Hollyweird
2. The DNC
3. College professors
4. The US legal system [particularly the ACLU]
5. Liberal blogs
6. The US Catholic clergy [and many other clergies]
7. Environmentalist and animal rights movements
8. The NOW gals
9. The junk science community
10. Most minority activist groups
11. Most sexual reprobate groups [particularly NAMBLA].
12. Labor unions.

Interestingly, these groups adopt Marxist doctrine.

That's why the Reform Party and the Libertarians got it wrong. They never understood the real battle between conservatives and leftists, and ended up being unwitting pawns of the left [although there are a few brilliant exceptions, such as Neal Boortz. He's more of a loose cannon who often gets it right. And Perot refused to be a pawn when he endorsed GW Bush].

Many people call McCarthy paranoid. Why wouldn't anyone be suspicious of what's happening over a half a century later? Why wouldn't anyone wonder what led up to such an infernal alliance?

To put in plainly: all the malcontents ended up selling out to ALL of our nation's enemies. Sombody forged them into a sick coalition. Today we have Jesse Jackson, an alleged minister [who spit in peoples' drinks he hated white Americans so much], standing side-by-side with Sheets Byrd and abandoning his defense of the unborn, often standing with Louis Farakhan, who hates the 'White Devil' and promotes Islam in prisons.

Was it JUST the KGB? Obviously not. We had marxists around prior to the Soviet Union, seeking to gain influence. We had anti-Christians in the media who buried reports on the Miracle of Fatima before Stalin had any power. It's an old coalition, loosely formed, perhaps not even planned by anyone other than Satan, himself.

And Satan needs no formal followers. Any sin by a US citizen is a service to Satan and harms our country. It is impossible to keep us from sinning. We all know that. But the bottom line is, the battle for the USA is more spiritual than anyone realizes.

And knowledge is the key to winning. Blinded by ignorance, we stumble around, most of our time wasted on petty nonsense and hedonistic pleasure. As we see more clearly, our steps will become more efficient and more focused. This alarms Satan's minions. They need darkness. We need light.

But the bottom line is, the battle for the USA is more spiritual than anyone realizes.

Relative to eternity people may want to temporally place themselves near the beginning of the struggle of good versus evil.

Conservatives successfully shed a enough light on few demons this week to make the forces of darkness retreat a minuscule amount.

Allow me to rephrase that latter thought. Image means everything to the prince of darkness, Satan, the deceiver. So the father of all liars merely shifts resources in a way to make it look like retreat of demons.

Some argue that Satan's greatest deception lies with convincing people that Satan really doesn't exist.

As late as 1984, 2004 Dem Presidential Candidate Senator John F. Kerry argued and wrote repeatedly that the US spent far too much of its resources fighting Soviet Communism. I'm reminded also of President Jimmy who ridiculed what he saw as "America's inordinate fear of Communism." Maybe he asked his daughter Amy about that one as well.

The list of communist goals referenced here is hardly credible, it wasnt plucked from some Soviet spymaster's briefcase, its from a crank book written by Cleon Skousen. It seems that some people like to quote his book "The Naked Communist" while never mentioning his later follow up book "The Naked Capitalist". He believed the world was run by the Trilateral Commission, the Bank of England and various American "internationalists" like our current President's family. Simply put he was a charter member of the tin foil hat club, read it for yourself and tell me you cant see that. If thats the best defense one can offer for the disgraceful and embarassing public implosion of Joe McCarthy then I ask again, what exactly are you defending? I'd rather be associated with the Party of Lincoln and Reagan than the Party of Nixon and McCarthy.
