it showed a disturbing lack of faith in the correctness of the American system. Our founding fathers built a mighty body politic, one that was more than capable of shaking off anyone selling communism.

UInfortunately, they had infiltrated the highest levels of our government, as you know. They were in control of significant levers of power, and the Democrat administrations would not do anything about the problem. The Venona documents bear this out, contemporary history bears it out, and writers such as Coulter have shown it to be true also.

Take Dorothy Franklin. She was a person allegedly wronged by McCarthy, who allegedly accused her of being a Communist. In fact, what he did was point out her position in the government and note that she was a member of some Communist front groups. (I believe it was three of them.) In fact, she was a member and they were front groups. But the press was so eager to destroy the anti-Communist cause that they took up the likes of Dorothy Franklin.

Now, some years later, somehow, Franklin weaseled her way into a spot in one of Scoop Jackson's campaigns. That great right-winger Nelson Rockefeller publicly asked why Jackson was employing a former Communist on his campaign.

Did you know that EVERY American signer of teh UN Compact except Secretary of State Rusk was a Communist?

What exactly is so amazing about Venona? Why should anyone be the least bit surprised to learn that our cold war rival was trying to undermine us? Thats about as shocking as the NSA listening to Al Qaeda, its something so obvious and logical it goes without saying. It was all for naught since the communist product had little chance of catching on. Do you really believe our nation was ever in danger of going communist and if so how do you see the rogue behavior a drunken McCarthy thwarting it? Did he ever convict anyone? No.

What is it about certain conservatives that they feel the need to redeem those who have hurt the movement? Is that really the standard you want to march with? A man so out of control he has become an imfamous icon for witch-hunting? It may have helped Coulter establish a reputation but it in terms of continuing conservative gains he's not someone you'd want to showcase... Its like when the dems let Kennedy speak in the primetime convention spot.
