Day 4: Hearing Resumes
This morning, Senators will question Judge Alito during a third round. They will then go into a closed session, to review the FBI background investigation on the Supreme Court nominee. Outside witnesses may be called to testify this afternoon, as well as the American Bar Association, to discuss its recommendations.

Hardball rerun on now! (with russ tice and ed meese cleaning matthews' clock afterwards)
thx
Hey..that is being VERY selfish....LOL
Thanks. Missed it earlier, and reading the comments about it made me want to see it too. Tice looks strange. What's w/David Kay being so critical? Mathews sucks up anything anti-Bush.
They submitted Napolitano's piece on FOX where he stated that he was a treasurer, there are no "members" per se, and explaining what CAP was REALLY about as evidence.
I saw this yesterday during the hearings.
"...even if the Democrats hold the markup over all the way to January 24th (which they have the right to do under committee rules)"
I'm going to go against the grain and hope that the Rats DO follow this strategy and try to delay this thing as long as possible. They still don't realize how they have looked like complete jackasses and that the longer this drags on the worse they look. Read a poll yesterday, on AOL no less, which asked who looked better in the hearings: Alito or the senators? Alito won something like 84% - 16%. And like I said, this was on AOL!
If Fat Teddy wants to go over CAP and Vanguard for another 2 weeks I say more power to him. Bring the 4 boxes of Vanguard papers and go over them one by one, line by line. The same boxes of memos which show absolutely zero connections between Alito and active participation in the group. This will drive the Rat' Senators disapproval numbers through the roof.
If they want to keep this going, then for good measure we call witnesses from the Owl group at Harvard and go over their papers as well.
Samuel Alito is going to be approved. The Dims had months to come up with something, anything and fired blanks. If Harry Reid and company want to ignore this reality and delay, delay, delay, great. It will only make them look more petty and juvenile than they already are.
toon is a liar...he and hildabeast did this so extensively on the American Citizens (without warrants whatsoever), it was quite scary...if that'd get out to the degree they both did this...look out..the blowback would kill hildabeast's presidential run once and for all. I wish this information would be released.
From the NY Times:
"The chances of a Democratic filibuster faded after the third day of hearings, as a spokeswoman for Senator Olympia Snowe of Maine, a moderate Republican, announced that Ms. Snowe would oppose it. Her decision is pivotal because she was one of seven Republicans who had joined an earlier successful effort to block Republican leaders from changing Senate rules to prevent filibusters against judicial nominations."
bump
Anybody knows what are the chances of justice Ginsberg retiring before the end of Bush's term? There is nothing I'd love more than to see this leftist replaced.
Thanks.
I had read something to that same effect that Ginsberg would probably be the next to go.
If I were to place a bet though, I would probably have to say that J.P. Stevens might be the next to step down. I think he's somewhere around 85-90 years old.
Thanks.
Maybe both, Ginsberg and Stevens, will be replaced.
Crossing my fingers here.

If that's DiFi in that awful photo, she needs a new undertaker.
Let them buy into Tice, Tice is whacked, but Tice is not the leaker and once again the MSNBC hacks will have egg on their face aka Karl Rove.
Perot could run outside a party because he was incredibly rich and was not a recognized member of a party. McCain can not cause it comes across as soour grapes and he will get maybe 1% of the vote. Ask John Anderson about 1980 and what happens when a Republican Establishment type trys to run as a third party.
I also yelled at him: "Algore, you're a liar."
I'm pretty sure he heard me because I was standing on a lamp post foundation and there was a lull in the crowd noise, plus I tend to be pretty loud.
Those were the days . . .
Thank you very much for taking the time to clearly explain the issues surrounding the independence of the executive branch.
