Day 4: Hearing Resumes
This morning, Senators will question Judge Alito during a third round. They will then go into a closed session, to review the FBI background investigation on the Supreme Court nominee. Outside witnesses may be called to testify this afternoon, as well as the American Bar Association, to discuss its recommendations.

WE ALL agree about Senator "cute as a button" (Sessions)..but, are you aware that this very senate did NOT pass confirm him for a federal judgeship???
Alas, though, he is NEVER invited to be on any of the talk shows or news...so he has zero reputation nationally...as you know...because you don't know about him...
He is awesome...a former military lawyer...and about as conservative as they come.
Garner was a 15-year-old burglar and when police responded to a burglary call, they spotted Garner near a fence, shouted for him to stop, he didn't, and the police fired their guns, hitting him in the head--he died in the OR.
Ironically, the Oriental professor cited this case and the memo Alito wrote to argue that Alito sides with gov't, ironic, because Justice Connor wrote a dissenting opinion in the case that more or less coincided with Alito's thoughts on the matter.
I can only wonder if the other three cases he referred to were like this one.
HMMMMMMMm Leahy taking Kennedy's picture???
Do we now have Brokeback Senate???
PLEASE--- Get carried away more often!
I ENJOY IT!
aw, shucks...thank you!
Those inscrutable Orientals. He was able to cite the memo and that case with a straight face. Apparently no Senator knew of O'Connor's opinion in the case entailed.
Ha ha haa! :-)
Ike - "I say we adopt the Iraqui "Blue Finger". THAT would take care of the fraud!"
JFC - " I go for a RED finger... .but of course I am from a red state... thank God for Texas.
I really like the 'blue' idea, cause we all know the vast majority of cheaters are Dimbulbs from 'blue' states (IMHO - 4 or 5 blue states could have been red if not for their cheating). Sometimes I think they vote in more states than one - figuratively and literally! An ID system might work. I pray that an honest USSC reviews fraudulent voting someday.
Thanks.
Hey, Tx. I turned on Hannity tonight which I usually don't do because I'm done with politics by this time, but I got o see video of Alito arriving at the hearings this morning and all of the wonderful people there to great him. It is one of the sweetest things I've ever seen.
I've stated before Senator Sessions is the only current Senator I'd consider for the Presidency or even Supreme Court. I think that highly of him. He's a good man. A True conservative, a True Republican, and someone of genuinely honest competant character. Doubtful he'll ever run for President, but if the Senate wants to play hard ball if a third judge retires on Bush's watch? I suggest plucking Sessions from their ranks as the nominee. I'd hate to lose one of the few honorable members of that body, but love to see him on the high court alongside Scalia/Thomas/Alito/Roberts.
wait, she said she would use the constitutional option to break a hypothetical filibuster or just that she doesn't believe there should be a filibuster?
The libs are salivating at the chance to eat one of their own. Supposedly, one of them called Ted Kennedy's office to inquire about a fillibuster and the staffer said its unlikely because Feinstein refuses to participate. Holy Burrito, Mr. Alito!!
How many knew Reagan before he ran? Didn't Reagan fail to get the GOP nomination the first time up? If so, it probably helped him the second go-around. I suspect more people are becoming familiar with the Senators on the committee, so Sessions, as well as the others, should go up and down in the public opinion polls.
I imagine Democrats are probably changing lanes as we type. I'm surprised (I always have to look up the spelling, thanks to Gomer) that Mrs. Alito or the daughter hasn't gotten up and bitch-slapped some of the Democrats on the committee.
LOL, Leahy is Joe DiVola. He has millions of pictures of Teddy on his wall.
Well, we now have two SCOTUS justices with military experience. Guess who?
Who?
