Day 4: Hearing Resumes
This morning, Senators will question Judge Alito during a third round. They will then go into a closed session, to review the FBI background investigation on the Supreme Court nominee. Outside witnesses may be called to testify this afternoon, as well as the American Bar Association, to discuss its recommendations.

let's snag the Leahy remark
Oh! durbin also thinks they might lie!
Did he actually say that?
Have the anti-Alito jwitnesses been questioned yet?
Or does that come tomorrow?
I am surprised the cable networks are not covering this at all. I guess they view this pretty much over with after the senators stop the questions of Alito himself.
These rat senators should be heading for cover; these witnesses have zipped this up for all the world too see. These judges are soooo impressive.
Leahy is a chick-en, Leahy is a chick-en, Nya, Nya, Nya, Nya, Nya.....
Durbin either. LOL!!
I remember the stories my mother told when she was a kid and how the Italians were treated and it wasn't nice
Heck, I'm 39 and I used to get called a stinking ginny, jumped, and beat up until 4th grade when my dad (NYC Cop) came by in uniform for parents day. We had these neighbors wouldn't give us candy during halloween because all eye-talians are dirty. They'd call the cops on us at night because they thought we would break into their house.
Good thing my dad was a 220lb musclebound cop.
Actually, right now its rising in the SE - unless you live on the Equator.
works for me.........lol
It is amazing to me that the sitting Chief Judge of Alito's Third Circuit Court is sitting there in support of his nomination, in stark contrast to the abonimable treatment Alito received from the Dems.
The dims are low and they will one day have a much higher Judge than any of these they sit before.
The day of Final Judgement on the dims is something that will be amusing.
Leahy and Durbin....what losers. They only showed up to make those statements. They were not there to listen to these judges testify.
I agree that Leahy was bowing to the inevitable, but rather than doing so gracefully, he had to question their ethics. It was subtle, but it was definitely there.
Lest Alito have to recuse himself..Leahy is posturing by implying their endorsements mean Alito cannot hear their decicions on appeal because of bias..Barf.
Some have said they did not always agree on opinions so why should the Supreme Court be different?
and now we will have the liberal fools coming out and contradicting JUDGES.............too sweet for words
Specter has been masterful.
I don't think it's hypocritical to want a judge who is willing to sweep away illegitimate precedent that was NEVER based on the text of the Constitution and truly "apply the law."
Don't you agree?
Leahy's refusal to ask questions of the judges strikes me similarly.
You'll notice that even Charles Schumer-who's probably been most vociferous in demanding that Judge Alito acknowledge this "Constitutional right to choice"-doesn't dare allude to the actual (barbaric) practice.
It just illustrates how reluctant the left is to associate themselves with the noxious policies their party advocates.
Ryan Lizza had a fascinating piece-that was published in New York Magazine late last year-which explored this state's ambivalent attitude towards abortion, and how the three year period in which we were the only state in the NE to have legalized abortion on demand soured New Yorkers' view of the procedure.
I'll look for another picture...cause he was a short old fatty.
