Sony Music has launched the first major music label dedicated to nurturing lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender artists.
The label, Music with a Twist, is a joint venture with Wilderness Media & Entertainment, the company led by Matt Farber, who has founded MTV's new gay and lesbian channel LOGO.
"It's an idea whose time has come," Mr Farber said.
"Only now are media and entertainment brands being created for the gay and lesbian audience following the success of brands for other minorities," he said.
Mr Farber says the success of brands dedicated to the African American and Hispanic audiences has helped talent in those communities cross over well beyond their core audiences.
Music With a Twist's roster will feature gay artists who have mass appeal and hit potential across all musical genres.
The label also plans to release various compilations geared toward gay and bisexual audiences, featuring hit songs by established artists that have been embraced by gay, bisexual and transgender audiences, as well as tracks from emerging gay artists.
Exactly what I think everytime I hear GAYS complaining about acceptance!! They are not a new "race" of people, they are a sexual perversion for petes sake!
I don't have much of one myself. I work, play on my computer, go to the library and that's pretty much it. The parentals are now in hysterics since I missed the payment due date on my college courses. However, I'll live I'm sure. :)
I was wondering about that channel. It popped up one night as I was scanning what was on.
After seeing the content I blocked it. No problem anymore...
They have to have their own freaking label now? SHEESH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HD DLP is one of the best qualities and values you can buy these days. I've got a JVC HD-55Z585 from over a year ago and I still haven't seen much to compete with it.
In addition, we now use a Samsung HD-DVD 850 which enhances DVD images. Beautiful combo. You wouldn't even need HD channels if you watch mostly DVDs. Far better than going to the theatre. My wife just loves it - enough to master the remote controls.
Michael Jackson, Bonnie Raitt, Melissa Etheridge, etc...
Are they going to also going to feature AIDS friendly artists like Freddy Mercury, Liberace and Rock Hudson?
Sony Music Launches Gay Label
By Terry Vanderheyden
LOS ANGELES, January 11, 2006 (LifeSiteNews.com) Sony Music has launched a label geared to homosexuals.
Called Music with a Twist, Sonys new label is a joint project with Wilderness Media & Entertainment the founders of MTVs homosexual channel, LOGO. Wilderness CEO Matt Farber called the venture An idea whose time has come, adding that only now are media and entertainment brands being created for the gay and lesbian audience following the success of brands for other minorities, according to a Reuters report.
The label aims to release music targeting the homosexual community with music that is popular with the group, as well as nurture budding homosexual musicians.
Wilderness Media also announced plans this week for a homosexual radio show to debut on FM and internet radio, called Twist.
On top of its homosexual advocacy, Sony has a history of pro-abortion support. According to Interim writer Tony Gosgnach, Sony Music stirred up controversy during the 1996 Christmas season when it released the recordings O Come All Ye Faithful and Just Say Noel, which were described as alternative Christmas music designed to raise money for the pro-abortion organizations Rock for Choice, the Feminist Majority Foundation, and Planned Parenthood.
The controversy continued into the 1997 Christmas season, when Sony was poised to distribute O Come All Ye Faithful again, Gosgnach explained. That development prompted the Roman Catholic archbishop of Boston, Cardinal Bernard Law, to write the president of Sony, calling the distribution of such a recording during one of Christianity's foremost feasts appalling.
Among other things, Rock for Choice supports the repeal of U.S. laws requiring parental consent for teen abortions, and they oppose restrictions on federal funding of abortion. The group also supports massive pro-choice community organizing. It describes legal abortion as the most spiritual of gifts.
