ALITO CONFIRMATION HEARINGS
Questioning Begins Today
Each of the eighteen senators on the Judiciary Cmte. will have 30 minutes to question Supreme Court nominee Samual Alito today during round one. Sen. Arlen Specter, as chairman, will begin, then they will alternate by party in order of individual seniority. Round two starts on Wednesday.
LOL!
The venom they allow on those call-in segments would choke the world's most poisonous snake. But of course, it's not hate when it comes from the Left.
I think it is yiddish for "I was born a smart alek and I ain't gonna change now."
Very.
"(Don't tell GOD how big your storm is -- Tell the storm how B-I-G your God is!)"
There ya go! It's that simple, but many make it very difficult for no reason at all. And yes...Chuckie boy is just a rude dude!
These people have got nothing going for them. Nothing. Except for inflicting fear on little old ladies and torture on the rest of us.
Well they lost so they have to talk about something.
Look on the bright side PD, you still get to make the monthly payments on the games
So much for the right to privacy, eh Chuckie?
It's somewhat curious that a man of Judge Alito's education and intellect has to submit himself to be questioned by so many total buffoons.
Regards, Ivan
It helps him avoid saying Roe v Wade or abortion, which is what he means.
I'm not so concerned about where he stands, I trust him with judicial power. The problem I had, in general, is that he came off as not having given the subject deep thought.
To be fair, I missed the substance of his answers, but noted the "quiet" following Graham's rapid fire assertions and questions.
I wonder where he stands on the declaration of war. Is the president sitting on a time bomb.
I think that issue is more between Congress and the President than between the President and the Courts. Our government has three parts that operate togather (in some ways), and against each other (in other ways). That's not an unhealthy arrangement, and is something that makes our system so different, if not responsive.
And, why does no one mention that we have enemies in America and there is always the chance that those enemies have progressed into our government?
It's a delicate subject - but for waht it's worth, most of the enmies penetrate administration organs such as CIA, FBI, and military.
But as for the Alito confirmation, as much as Graham's questioning was uncomforamtble for me to watch, I don't hisnk it has any impact on the confirmation. I will downgrade my previous "A- /85 or better" on Alito's performance to a "B+ / 80 or better" - he's doing GREAT, IMO, and he will meke a fine replacement for SDO.
"DOESN'T GAURANTEE THA YOU WILL UPHOLD PRECEDENCE!"
What the....?
HE CAN'T GAURANTEE ANYTHING YOU NINNY!
ahhhhhhhh..
stare at this decisis...
Rofl...
STARE DECISIS - Lat. "to stand by that which is decided." The principal that the precedent decisions are to be followed by the courts.
To abide or adhere to decided cases. It is a general maxim that when a point has been settled by decision, it forms a precedent which is not afterwards to be departed from. The doctrine of stare decisis is not always to be relied upon, for the courts find it necessary to overrule cases which have been hastily decided, or contrary to principle. Many hundreds of such overruled cases may be found in the American and English books of reports.
An appeal court's panel is "bound by decisions of prior panels unless an en banc decision, Supreme Court decision, or subsequent legislation undermines those decisions." United States v. Washington, 872 F.2d 874, 880 (9th Cir. 1989).
LOL that's like subpoena duces tecum...they get to take em withem.
Fox & Friends this morning said that they called every one of the Dems on the committee and asked them to come on their show this morning. NOT ONE WOULD.
They said that they would continue to call them this week, but as for this morning Senator Cornyn went on alone.
