Staying on the up-and-up, not accusing Rush of anything, I believe it bears noting that the Clinton administration was NOT responsible for Ruby Ridge and the murder of Vicky Weaver. She was murdered in 1992, months before Clinton was elected. It was George Bush Sr.'s administration which perpetrated that atrocity. Yes, it was the Clinton administration which allowed the killer to get off with a slap on the wrist, however, that connection between the two administrations raises a few eyebrows all by itself.

It bothers me to see stalwarts of the right mix up historical facts in this way. In the ever-increasing chasm between conservatives and republicans, I'm sensitive to falsehoods.. call it paranoia or just irritability. Either way, a policy of truth is SO important.

I checked the 1/6/2006 live thread, and as far as I can tell, it was also missed there.

Ruby Ridge and Waco are mentioned in the same sentence so often. He just misspoke, that's all.

I caught that too. Wondered if I was mistaken about it. Guess I wasn't.

Curious if you have the SAME Senativity to falsehood as you do to misstatements? Curious what your reaction is to the Democrat Party runing an ad claiming Democrats Didn't know Jack Abramoff? Seems that is a LIE on a very significant current event as opposed to a misstatement about a misremembered date.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1553917/posts

So the Democrats don't know Jack hmmmmm?

So the Democrat Party is running a TV ad claiming Democrats "Didn't know Jack". OH Really? Let's see what a Non Partisan Campaign Watchdog group says.

Here is the WHOLE Open Secrets list for those who "Want to be fair".

http://www.capitaleye.org/abramoff.asp

List of Democrats who got Abramoff's money

Democratic Senatorial Campaign Cmte $121,500

Democratic Congressional Campaign Cmte $354,700 Democratic National Cmte $65,720 Patrick J. Kennedy (D-RI) $42,500 Patty Murray (D-Wash) $40,980 Charles B. trying this again...

Yeah, hope so. Like I said, there's no reason not to reiterate the truth, is all.

Nope, you weren't. I listened to it several times this evening. I didn't double check spelling on the other folks' names, though. Hope they're right (but they're not germane to this discussion).

I think this kind of mistake is understandable. The first Bush administration was such a downer that it's kind of natural to get confused about which of these low points occurred from 1990-92 and which ones occurred from 1993-1995.

Yes, I did notice that when he said it. I just chalked it up to a foggy memory. There is, though, a tendency in many conservatives to forget that big government just doesn't work under Republicans as well as Democrats.

I won't be bullied into feeling badly about a misstatement on anybody's part, particularly one that I didn't make. Of course the democrats lied -- they always lie.

I heard that too and it's good that you pointed it out and I am sure Rush will correct himself when he gets wind of it, just as anybody who has class and is engaging in the arena of ideas and truth. But, you would never ever see a slimeball Dem or lib (sorry for being redundant) correct themselves; hell, they even deny they said things when there's a voice or video recording of them saying it!!!

I am totally amazed at what Rush can pull off the top of his head while doing a daily (5 days a week minus holidays & time off) 3 hour talk show (with videocam much of the time). I would be a lot smarter if I knew 0.1% of what he does. If he makes one mistake like this every thousand or so attempts, I'll give him a pass on this one :-)

That must be part of 2.13% where he is wrong, according to a famous accounting firm. Good ear for catching that. Let's see, you win the ProFootball Pick'em and now you catch Rush making an error. Is there anything you can't do?

; )

I know; I debated all day whether to bring it up. In the end, I figured we're all adults and no one's accusing Rush of particularly nefarious wrongdoing. It's worth a mention. You're right about both administrations -- thanks for saying so.
