yeah, I agree. I just grabbed your post as the quickest way to respond with the beginning of what will become a flood of returned or donated funds from everybody. Sorry!

In Montana, KCFW, an NBC affiliate is pushing Conrad Burns-R, and mostly ignoring Max Borkus Baucus-D, even though, both legally received campaign donations.

Also, they use the phrase "Gave Burns money" instead of the phrase "donated to his campaign."

I am REALLY disappointed that President Bush is involved. It is a shame that he has to stoop down to their level and now is giving the money to charity. I am really getting a little nervous about him lately with his immigration, no vetos, a huge spending plan, and now this. I hope that this is the end of it. With this news out now, I wonder if the confirmation hearings are going be hurt in some way (Alito).

In addition, NBC attempted to contact Burns, but finally spoke with the chair of the Montana DNC. Naturally his view is that this is a big strike against Burns in his coming reelction.

I don't think the issue is the money or which party it went. It went to government that already overtaxes its citizens and provides little service to thos epaying the taxes.

What this clearly shows is that government has too much power and that private industry has to pay a futune to do business in this country.

This is the saddest part of this entire event.

"I hope this thing blows a huge hole in the Congress and exposes ALL the participants --- maybe then will we have a chance to get back a Congress that realizes that they were sent there to work FOR the people, not against them."

I'm with you on this one, Eagle. I want to see everyone go down that deserves it, no matter who.

Time to rid our country of the cancer that is our current House and Senate. Let's start from the top and work our way down to our individual states. Our current Governor (D, WI) is involved in taking massive campaign funds from our Indian Casinos and from special interest groups that later approved power plant placements/buildings.

I'd like to see some frog marching of all corrupt Dems and all corrupt RINOS. Wouldn't bother me one whit.

I really don't think this story is going anywhere. Too many democRats involved. The MSM will ignore it. That's the problem. I want crooked Republicans thrown out of office more than I want crooked 'Rats thrown out. But we are forced to keep the status quo with both sides on the take because the MSM is so biased.

This won't hurt Bush at all. It's just a contribution for goodness sakes. I'll bet if one were to investigate every single contribution made to Bush, thoroughly, you'd find some equally shady characters, if not more shady, than Abramoff.

A contribution doesn't equal connection (or influence). Now Ney (http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1551702/posts), he's got some questions to answer, because it's clear from the record he's gone to bat for Abramoff in his shady business deals. But what has Bush done for Abramoff? That's really the question to answer, and the answer is nothing, thus, there's no real connection between the two.

I was speaking to cable news. I saw the Post graphic, which is good. The NY Times graphic is basic and not good.

I still don't know what he bought with this money

"He enriched himself" is what the press is aying now, but I am guessing that in time, we will hear a detailed list of all he bought with his ill gotten gains. He bought a restaurant and liked to invest in Hollywood movies, so that's some bucks right there. But, I'm sure there's a slew of high-living expensives, in light of how many millions he was taking in kick backs.

Also, at some point, oceanview, you have to admit: the guy already admitted guilt to criminal charges! I am sure he would have paid a team of lawyers for years if he actually thought he could get away with this scheme.

BTW, what if he socked it all away in a Swiss bank account, or something like that? If he stole the money, he stole it; he doesn't have to also "spend" it to have enriched himself by fraud.

Thanks for that list!

Seems Babs Boxer has a thing for Indian Tribes and casino gambling. Her lawyer son represents one of the tribes that lobbied for a casino in Sonoma County.

The connection wasn't revealed by her, but exposed later.

The DOJ is supposed to be semi apolitical....hence the blinders. This isn't republicans going after republicans or demoncrats going after their own. This is about crime, and it looks like Abramoff's crimes were pretty blatant.

"He bought a restaurant and liked to invest in Hollywood movies"
That's nothing! He bought a fleet of gambling ships in Florida ,from a Greek guy, with money he didn't have. Forged bank transfers, was involved with someone with ties to the mafia. And,,,the Greek was murdered. Go read the long twisted story at:
