From the article, linked in my post #1:
"With most cases, the plea is the end, but with Abramoff, the plea is just the beginning," said an F.B.I. official who spoke on condition of anonymity, adding, "This one has legs."

"This one has legs." I beg to differ with that assessment. There are too many Democrats involved for this story to have any "legs" in the mainstream press.

From
another NYT article, also published today:
Paul Miller, president of the American League of Lobbyists, a trade group with 700 members, said Mr. Abramoff was "in a league by himself" as a Washington lobbyist, a term he said he used reluctantly.
"Jack Abramoff, by my definition, is not a lobbyist," Mr. Miller said. "He knowingly defrauded clients. In my view, he is nothing more than a scam artist."

Hopefully this thing will really blow open and expose many of those Dems. Then these cockroaches cannot hide -- and cockroaches "have legs".... :-)

It really bothers me that this guy Scanlon worked for DeLay. I truthfully think DeLay is history.

if this interests you, there is a "MUST READ" thread now about "Money,Mobsters,Murder". It's a long read, but it's incredible. This is just the very tip of the iceberg. I think there's gonna be a huge shake-up in DC over this whole story. It's gonna ruin a lot of people on both sides of the aisle!

Powerline has comments that most of what Abramoff pleaded to was business to business scams. The only congresscritter mentioned in the Plea was Ney of Ohio and there really doesn't seem to be much of a case there.
Not that that will matter to the MSM, but it looks pretty weak.

There are too many Democrats involved for this story to have any "legs" in the mainstream press. I completely agree. But notice how you have to go to Fox News to see any reporting of the massive amounts of money taken by democrats.
However, its amazing how most liberals in the MSM are twisting this whole story to some how "get Tom Delay", which I saw last night on Chris Matthews. The MSM does not even understand the story.

Let's see...more went to the party in charge...how unusual.

You know, I find I can not help but look at the upside of this matter, meaning:
Here is a GOP lobbyist engaging in fraud, and investigated by a GOP DOJ; which to me, begs the question:
Would a Dem lobbyist, engaging in this much fraud, have been investivgated by a Dem DOJ?
I would like to think so, but, I don't know. This is why I think the GOP is not going to be as harmed by this scandal as the press is predicting. After all, the guy has alreaady pleaded guilty! And, that's something...

weeklystandard.com ^ | 11/28/2005 | Matthew Continetti Money, Mobsters, MurderThe sordid tale of a GOP lobbyist's casino deal gone bad. Gambling doesn't destroy people. People destroy people. The gentleman or gentlewoman who decides to gamble makes that decision of his own free will. It's a free market industry, and that appeals to conservatives. --Michael Scanlon AT ABOUT 8 p.m. on the night of September 26, a homicide detective with the Ft. Lauderdale police department entered the home of Anthony Moscatiello in the Howard Beach section of Queens, New York. Once inside, he placed the 67-year-old "caterer," aka "Big Tony," under arrest. Around 11 p.m., a thousand miles...
