Artifacts with links to Bible unearthed

JERUSALEM -- Israeli archaeologists, screening tons of rubble scooped out of this ancient city's sacred Temple Mount, have discovered hundreds of artifacts and coins, as well as jewelry, some with biblical links dating back more than three millennia.

Most of the stones and earth originally were taken to an organic garbage dump in nearby Bethany, the New Testament town known in Arabic as Al-Azariya, and could not be retrieved. But a substantial portion was diverted to the Valley of Kidron, mentioned in the Old Testament and located just outside the Old City's massive walls.

This ambitious archaeological project, known as the Temple Mount Antiquities Operation, was started in November 2004, when Muslims excavated the sector north of Solomon's Stables to build the massive underground Marwani Mosque. Its second season, now under way, will last until February.

It is reprehensible to me that the Muslims are being allowed to build anything on this holy site.

Sheesh, how could they allow any portion of that site to be sent to the dump? Unbelievable!

He told of "scores of coins, many of them Jewish and minted by the Hasmonean and Herodian dynasty." This find might help explain why Jesus Christ drove the money-changers out of the Temple

*buzzer sounds*

Nope, Jesus stopped the business beacuse HIS FATHER'S house was for Prayer & Worship and it was instead being used as a "Den for Thieves".

And there Was a lot of crooked business (price-gouging, kickbacks, etc.) going on between the Jewish Leades & Merchants in those days.

It's too bad that the Muslim authorities don't permit archaeologists to examine the site BEFORE they excavate it to expand the mosque.
They have done a great deal on the Temple Mount to destroy any evidence of Jewish occupation there, including sawing up stone blocks (obliterating their frieze designs) and paving over various locations.
Now, the Israelis only get to sift through the mounds of dirt which are left, after being removed from their original site.
(Were any other ancient site treated in this way, probably the UN, the EU, and several universities would complain. But, of course, here we are dealing with the Palestinians. . .)

Why doesn't this get the same level of outrage around the world that we heard constantly about the "loss of national treasures" and the "loss to history" of the "looting" of Iraqi museums?

I've got a better idea. Let's excavate the Mosque and send that to the dump. That demonic abomination is what really belongs there!

Are there no civilized Muslims in the world who object to this? Is there not even one?

Particularly since the ROP knows no limits.
I wish someday I can read a narrative explaining why Israel allowed muslims into Jerusalem at all. It has been the Jewish holy city for millenia before the animals invented their religion.

I can understand a reality lapse sufficient to allow the maggots to use the Temple Mount; but allowing them exclusive jurisdiction, and the authority to make physical changes to anything on the site, above or below ground is mind-boggling.

Whatever possesed the Israelis to agree to that? Could not the nature of the muslims be seen for what it is 60 years ago?

That's because the "I'm not Jewish I'm Israeli" types don't give a f-ck about their Jewish heritage.

The ACLU probably supported the decision to blow up those religious monuments.

Besides those statues had to go. It was a sign of imperialism and foreign meddling in Israel. < /sarcasm >
