Bill Richardson appears in Rose Parade (commentator notes horse tilts to left)
2006 Tournament of Roses Parade + The New Mexican ^ | 1/2/06

State of NM Governor Bill Richardson and First Lady Barbara Richardson ride at front of float in buckboard. ... State of NM Governor Bill Richardson was born in Pasadena

From TheNew Mexican: "A worthy investment"

Richardson, an oft-discussed potential 2008 presidential candidate, said he did not initially want to ride on the float, but was persuaded by Cerletti and his Tourism Department Deputy Secretary John Hendry. With his background as both a diplomat and cabinet secretary in the Clinton administration, Richardson is one of the state's most recognizable personalities. Richardson said his participation in the parade was not an attempt to curry favor for his own political ambitions.

"This is about promoting the state. This is not about politics. This is not about Bill Richardson," he said. "It's about an incredible opportunity for New Mexico to get worldwide exposure."

Richardson said Tuesday that he does not plan to attend any Democratic Party political functions while in California. "No," Richardson said. "Zero. It's an official trip. No politics."

I was surprised to see this entry in the parade as I didn't know lacking representation by New Mexico was at the forefront of their state's agenda. Even more amusing, however, was commentator Bob Eubanks of local LA TV station KTLA noting that one couldn't help but notice that the horse depicted on the float was clearly "tilting to the left" ;)

Happy New Year!

"tilting to the left"

I've never considered Richardson a big lefty though.

When the RATS finally figure out that Senators make bad candidates Richardson might be a contender.

I was so wholly unimpressed by his "the hard drives were missing on my watch, I'll fix it speech" when he was DOE Secretary. He's fat bag of $hit, IMHO.

Hmm..interesting. His state of NM is having some wildfires now (Hobbs NM area) and he's off in CA gallivanting at a parade?

I guess it's "OK" for libnuts to not be around in times when their state is experiencing a disaster. Woe to any GOPer who DARES to even be ON THE JOB during one!

Sick to death of libnut hypocrisy.

Total BS from Gov. Groper.

Though I must admit, it was a very sharp-looking float, one of the best of the parade.

ABC's coverage was awful, of all the shows to cross-promote, why on earth would they choose their sleaziest and most adult-oriented to provide the co-host (Desperate Housewives)? And then the slut-playing 'star' did a lousy job of announcing. In contrast HGTV did a great job, without commercials or trashy innuendo in their banter.

Let Richardson run ... he has a nice little history to try and run from ... especially during his Clinton years

He's not a Conservative and he's not a Republican, that only leaves one category and it's not on the right.

Richardson, an oft-discussed potential 2008 presidential candidate,...

The guy is basically a scumbag. He was Clinton's fixer in the Monica mess, and was a disaster as the head of DOE. But he will be a dangerous candidate for President if he runs in 2008. He's plugged into big Hollywood money and has the connections (Alec Baldwin, Christie Brinkley, et al.) to make more, and is a major powerbroker in the national 'Rat party. He'll likely have Clinton's blessing (if Hillary doesn't run), and will be at least a VP choice if not the top of the ticket. He will clean up the Hispanic vote, and is the governor of a Southwestern state, a lot better position to make inroads in the GOP base of the South and Midwest than Senator of a liberal Northeastern state. If I were the national GOP, I'd have some money going into opposition research on Richardson right now. Start with the DOE tenure. There are a lot of skeletons there.

Here is the script for Bill Richardson's "Roger Mudd Moment", to be played out whenever he runs for national office:

Gov. Richardson, as Ambassador to the United Nations you held open a position for Monica Lewinski, a job which would have enabled her to move to NYC, outside of the subpoena range of a Federal Grand Jury sitting in Washington D.C. You later visited her at her mother's apartment in the Watergate complex to conduct a personal interview for the position. Sir, my questions are as follows:
  1. How many other job interviews did you conduct for positions of this level in the homes of the candidates?
  2. How was she qualified for an interview for this position, let alone for the position itself? (In your answer please compare and contrast the credentials of the incumbent in the position with those of Ms. Lewinski. Also explain how you could hold a position "open" for her if it was truly a competitive interview situation.)
  3. As Ambassador to the United Nations, how is it your responsibility to help bury the President's personal problems?
  4. Given the lack of judgment you showed in attempting to help Bill Clinton with his dirty laundry, what makes you think you have the judgment necessary to serve as President/Vice-President?

Sorry, Charlie.
King Bill is you're typical tax and spend liberal Rat. He just maintains a lower profile than the typical Rat and throws a few bones to the people (lower income tax for example) so that the MSM picks up on it and touts him as a moderate. He lowers some taxes and raises other to compensate. NM is so flush with O&G money right now, he's just throwing it away -- spending money to buy a railroad and build a spaceport, just two items in the past month. Of course, all the time his enviro-minions are denying permits to drill for more oil and gas in this state, just because it will disturb a flower or a sensitive rock.

Do a keyword search on Bill Richardson to get a flavor of what he is up to.

And, BTW, I'm glad it rained on his parade.

I thought there were serious grass fires in New Mexico.

There were. Two of my fellow employees had family or themselves were evacuated and/or lost property (maybe a house -- I don't know yet).

Thanks Dave..interesting stuff! Richardson was also heavily involved in the Wen Ho Lee "White Sands" mess too. I recall the story about "missing top secret files" and Richardson was then SOE under clintoon. That whole situation was very suspicious. I think there was a big coverup.

Richardson should not be allowed to hold any public office. These scumbag rats worm their way in via the smaller states.

I was in the elevator today with a couple of my co-workers. I mentioned that the Rose Parade committee must be cursing up a blue streak (as to why today's weather didn't happen yesterday). One of the co-workers said that it was "because they picked the wrong grand marshall".

Another of my co-workers reminded me that Ms. O'Connor will be tossing the pre-game coin at tomorrow night's Rose Bowl game (as is the tradition for the Rose Parade GM). I posed the question, "will the coin land left, right, or in the center?"

(Of course, I could have said that was how she made her court decisions--by the flip of a coin--but I wasn't thinking fast enough at the time...)
