Well gotta hit the hay since we gotta be in LINE 5hrs early to be in the PARty.

I will be back with my new Chex mis.

Thank You FReinds.

Here is my letter to those family members who don't want to hear from me maybe I should post this at DU but my heart hurts that I am so un apart of the family that they think of me as a loon like my birth mother.....that is ok by me.

Hey Ya'll
I was always told I was a twin to a woman my MoM.
I knew her my first 5 yrs of life and her Mom took Grand care of me.
I was tossed to the wind but perservered at the age of 6.
The family blood line who feel hate towards her and me as her twin and perhaps the same brain nuttiness did not let me know she passed on,
THe Filipino adoptive mother let me know.
I called siblings and was greeted with the same for what ever reason you are not our family and you are just as crazy as she was we do not understand your thinking.
That is ok by me I just was upset that no one let me know my Mom by Biirth   passed on.
Even though we were not together we shared many long manic letters together.
Chris remembers her as ''Now I know where your nuttti manic self came from"
My Birth Mom was a brilliant highlyeducated Woman but with the unfortunate chemical imbalance that caused much tradgedy in her life.
We, Chris and I were able to visit her in the last decade as bad as her mental freak was on.
I know every day I am a carbon copy and my blood reletives wish not to mix with me as they say she was a nightmare and I am a reminder.
I can respect that .   I can't change only modify hard wire.
So best things in life move forward .
I Love YOU Bonnie June .
She was the woman that had me packing a PDR book around and writing Chinese as she studied when I was 4 yrs old..
Hate my family for not liking me but God will sort it out.
If I go to Shortstop in the Light I want to be with My Labs and my MOM.
Prayers for my heart would be ok......

Things are going to be better this year. I just know it.

I don't know exactly to what you are referring, having just seen this one remark of yours, but I think/hope that you may be right. 2006 may be better because G.W. is going to play a card or two that he has been holding, thus making the 2006 elections a good election day again for Republicans and the country at large.

****

To be remembered, I think this story is illustrative:

The American Thinker February 3, 2004 | Thomas Lifson

*****

One final note on George W. Bush’s management style and his Harvard Business School background does not derive from the classroom, per se. One feature of life there is that a subculture of poker players exists. Poker is a natural fit with the inclinations, talents, and skills of many future entrepreneurs. A close reading of the odds, combined with the ability to out-psych the opposition, leads to capital accumulation in many fields, aside from the poker table.

By reputation, the President was a very avid and skillful poker player when he was an MBA student. One of the secrets of a successful poker player is to encourage your opponent to bet a lot of chips on a losing hand. This is a pattern of behavior one sees repeatedly in George W. Bush’s political career. He is not one to loudly proclaim his strengths at the beginning of a campaign. Instead, he bides his time, does not respond forcefully, at least at first, to critiques from his enemies, no matter how loud and annoying they get. If anything, this apparent passivity only goads them into making their case more emphatically.

For 2006 I will strap a pedometer to my waist and walk at least 10,000 steps every day in 2006 (already started Dec 24). This will all be outdoors regardless of weather conditions. This will achieve a minimum of 3.65 million steps but I'll probably be closer to 5 million steps when all is said and done (or approx. 2,500 miles of walking).

For 2006, I want to upgrade all the computers in my house to new stuff.

For 2006, I resolve to eat either sardines, yogurt or eggs for breakfast every single morning.

For 2006, I will only listen to good music on my iPod. I just spent the past month purging all bad and mediocre music from my iTunes.

For 2006, I aim not to drink any cheap beer, even if it is the only beer available. Only quality beer like Pilsner Urquell or Samuel Adams Lager for now on.

I resolve to drink more liquids in 2006 to better hydrate my body (as opposed to only drinking wine, beer and coffee)

In 2006, I resolve to achieve more efficient bowel movements by way of adding needed fiber to my diet.

For all of 2006, I resolve to not let the gas tank in my car drop to less that 1/4 full.

In 2006, I want to wake up early every day (5AM on weekdays and 6:30AM on weekends).

Wow, somehow I didn't think the thread would be this long already! Great recipes, thoughts, ideas, and resolutions.

Recipe: Take one brick of softened cream cheese add one jar of Peach/Mango Horseradish Sauce combine with blender...serve with crackers. (you can just dump the jar over the cream cheese too.) Any spicy sauce will work. Raspberry jalapeno jam is good served this way too.

Resolutions:
1. Take care of medical issue requiring surgery.
2. Invest in my new business. Create at least 4 new jobs (Already working on this one. Open and operating by May 2006).
3. Provide internship opportunity to local college.
4. Teach liberal students that conservative values help everyone and the environment.
5. Be vigilant.

Dear Carlo, Best Wishes for the New Year! So sorry you have had all the health problems. The FR smokers won't listen to you, they are too busy whining that they are not allowed to smoke everywhere like they could in the past. Limits have been put on their freedom and they must pay extra taxes. They will say they are fighting for private property rights but we know better. They are fighting for a return to the bad old days when they had no limits put on their addiction. They say they are fighting for their friend and bar/restaurant owner but as soon as they can't smoke there anymore they stop going. Doesn't that tell you where their allegiance lays?

That is quite an ambitious list. I am with you on the exercize, hydration, and keeping more than a quarter tank of gas in the Jeep. I am going to upgrade my home computer and I am going to figure out how that whole Ipod thing works so I can tell friends that I am shocked that I was ever able to live without one. I am also on a de-cluttering kick that started Dec. 26th. The St. Vincent DePaul Store is going to get another load of things today.

I quit smoking three years ago this week. Cold turkey one day.....no relapses. One cannot fathom how increasingly debilitating cigarettes are until you're off them.....and then how good you feel in every physical and mental aspect once you're free of the addiction.

Happy New Year, Carlos. You've contributed so much joy, so much wisdom, so many memories and quite a few calories to those of us who read your threads avidly. My very best to you and yours in the coming year.

Carlo, dear Carlo. What a wonderful post!

I quit five years ago, due to a health crisis as well. It wasn't related to the smoking, but I knew that my body didn't need anymore problems. I thought "what the heck am I doing to myself?"... I use the mint flavored Nicorette. It's expensive, but darn it, I'm worth it. Notice Don Imus chews the gum non stop! NO weight gain, and tons of energy.

For those who don't want to use the gum, it's best to have it on hand for times of tension.

My dear husband still smokes. I wish he would quit. He needs to.

Happy New Year, Carlo. YOU can do it. Your life depends on it :)

Well, the fireworks commenced this morning at 6:30. I can't tell which direction they are and it sounds as if it could be as far away as 1/2 mile away. Sounds as if its going to be a looonnng weekend.

Oh, OP..I have enjoyed your posts on FR for years.

Don't let those idiots get you down. Each of us are unique. NONE of us are "just like" anyone else. That's BS!

These dysfunctional people are pure poison, and I wouldn't want to be around them, much less gain their acceptance. No one should have the power to make any one feel so bad.

There is an old saying that goes "you can pick your friends, but not your family". See?

Hang in there, OP...we care. Happy New Year.

Hello Paulat,

Happy New Year yourself! I PLAN to loose the 20 pounds that I put BACK on, of the 40 I lost and to stop, as best I can, with the curse words. Of course, this being an election year, that may be VERY hard. Going to celebrate with good friends and keep it simple. Keep safe!

I am in Des Moines so I cannot halp you there. I hope this resolution lasts longer than most of mine. I am particularly committed this year because I have wasted too much time searching for things that got buried behind other stuff.

Good luck on your project!

It'll last the longest, will not slump in the middle and will give the best posture. Hands down winner.

As for the: "I used to dream about the wild New Year party I would be going to..now its a mattress."

Well, have a wild new year's eve party on the mattress !

...couldn't resist :-)
