NBC has begun promoting a new weekly show in January that centers around a troubled, pill-popping Episcopal priest played by veteran actor Aidan Quinn, who talks with a manifestation of Jesus, played by Garret Dillahunt.
"The Book of Daniel" is being touted as the riskiest new show of the year. It is also billed as the only show on television in which Jesus appears as a recurring character.
It's a drama with comedic aspects and is being kicked off Jan. 6 with back-to-back episodes. It is scheduled to air regularly Friday nights at 9 p.m. The cast also includes Ellen Burstyn and Susanna Thompson.
As NBC itself explains the show, it focuses on "an Episcopalian minister and father. He finds himself conversing with Jesus -- his mentor and friend -- who helps navigate family problems, church politics and even his nagging reliance on prescription painkillers."
Comedienne Phyllis Diller plays a member of Daniel Webster's flock.
NBC executives have been excited about "The Book of Daniel" for a long time, though the show failed to make its fall lineup. Dillahunt is said to play a "hip, modern Jesus."
"This challenging new series is our first announced drama for midseason as we continue to seek different out-of-the-box projects," NBC Entertainment President Kevin Reilly told the Hollywood Reporter.
Neilson used to actually attach a machine that monitored the TV watching. They also use a questionaire. But almost all ad space rates are based on Neilson ratings.
Not to worry: GOD is watching, too.
They mocked Jesus on the cross: this won't be the first time and it probably won't be the last.
If Hollywood wants to be Damn'ed, then fine: see if I care. They are certainly going about it in the right way. They are the authors of their own misfortune. I won't be watching their filth.
Perhaps these Hollywood meatheads skipped the Sunday School lesson that goes "Do not tempt God..."

That's a DUMB statement. Myth is never true. So how can he not know if myth is true or not? He has already decided, obviously, by calling it myth. So the statement is just stupid.

I know, there is a lot of weird stuff in our Church's. I would like to read a good article about how the Southern Baptists successfully fought off some these problems.
And I am Catholic but I know that is just entertainment and also know that a show or movie such as this cannot and will not deter nor alter my faith in God.
I resent folks who have to spam the world and preach to us that we can't be adult or smart enough to figure that out.

But I have seen the media, academia the judiciary and local governments on attack against Christianity since I was around high school age in the early 70s and I for one am fighting back.

Another show villifying and belitting Christians, very likely blaspheming Jesus Christ (unless they have him quoting his own words from the Bible, in proper context, which somehow I doubt will happen), and promoting the usual immorality and psychological weirdness as worthy and benigna and humorous. Of course, sometimes stuff like that is humorous - but this sounds like outright promotion.
And, in "After the Ball", the homosexual activists authors describe how humor is used to de-sensitize people to the "gay" agenda, and in fact can be used to de-senstize people to many agendas. Or the various tentacles of the agenda.
