NBC has begun promoting a new weekly show in January that centers around a troubled, pill-popping Episcopal priest played by veteran actor Aidan Quinn, who talks with a manifestation of Jesus, played by Garret Dillahunt.
"The Book of Daniel" is being touted as the riskiest new show of the year. It is also billed as the only show on television in which Jesus appears as a recurring character.
It's a drama with comedic aspects and is being kicked off Jan. 6 with back-to-back episodes. It is scheduled to air regularly Friday nights at 9 p.m. The cast also includes Ellen Burstyn and Susanna Thompson.
As NBC itself explains the show, it focuses on "an Episcopalian minister and father. He finds himself conversing with Jesus -- his mentor and friend -- who helps navigate family problems, church politics and even his nagging reliance on prescription painkillers."
Comedienne Phyllis Diller plays a member of Daniel Webster's flock.
NBC executives have been excited about "The Book of Daniel" for a long time, though the show failed to make its fall lineup. Dillahunt is said to play a "hip, modern Jesus."
"This challenging new series is our first announced drama for midseason as we continue to seek different out-of-the-box projects," NBC Entertainment President Kevin Reilly told the Hollywood Reporter.
I don't even give it a full 2 months. This is vile.
I got a Mennonite one near me, I dig those beautiful Lebanese women.
Marionite is what I meant to say.
LOL! I can just hear the sermons in the conservative Christian Churches across America the week this airs.
An Episcopal priest with a homosexual son... This is just another homosexual propaganda show -plain and simple...
What a crock. Most Episcopal priests I know are the homosexuals in the family.
So...when are CHRISTIANS due to wear some emblem on our sleeves, to warn the public away from our evil contamination?
In five years. Crosses.
How does this work. How does Nielson actually know who is watching what?
it's not all crap... imho, my name is earl is funny stuff... the rest of the programming is crap.
But NOOOOOOOO let's kick the Christians AGAIN.
To Hell with NBC.
A risky tv show about Jesus would be one showing Him with all of his Godly traits. Risky would be to show the compassion, mercy, justice and love of Christ and how turning to Him changes peoples lives -- gives them hope, courage and comfort. Hollywood hasn't the guts to show Jesus Christ as His believers know Him because Hollywood and the left don't know Him. Fools mock goodness.
Jesus doesn't need to exist to be real, he only needs to be needed.
no. I think the "jesus of NBC" will himself end up gay and will most likely have an affair with a suprise *guest* actor by the name of Heath or Jake..... its soooo friggen predictable.
"The assault on Christianity continues."
Not to mention the assault on Buddhism. It is the favorite "hobby-religion" for shallow Westerners to dabble in. This Kenny sounds like one of them. You get to spout new age terminology, without even knowning what it means, you can even adopt a cool Eastern sounding name, all without actually making any sort of committment, or any change in your behavior or lifestyle.
It's the only religion that gets treated as a fashion accessory.
If they did, the people responsible would be staring in their own production. A beheading video produced by Islomofacist Productions.
On January 6, NBC will begin a new series entitled Kaaba Knows Best.
While the public has not seen the program, NBC is promoting "Kaaba Knows Best" as a serious drama about Muslim people and the Islamic faith. The main character is Mohammed Aziz, a drug-addicted imam whose wife depends heavily on her mid-day martinis.
Aziz regularly sees and talks with a very unconventional white-robed, bearded Mohammed (pbuh). The Aziz family is rounded out by a 23-year-old homosexual son, a 16-year-old daughter who is a drug dealer, and a 16-year-old adopted son who is having sex with the kuffir-next-door's daughter. At the office, the imam's lesbian secretary is sleeping with his sister-in-law.
NBC and the mainstream media call it "edgy," "challenging" and "courageous." The series is written by Achmed al-Hadjj, a practicing homosexual who describes himself as being "in Islamic recovery," and is interested in Jewish teachings about kashrut and isn't sure exactly how he defines Allah and/or His Prophet (pbuh). "I don't necessarily know that all the myth surrounding him (Mohammed (pbuh)) is true," he said.
NBC considers Kaaba Knows Best a positive portrayal of Islam and Muslims.
