WASHINGTON Dec 21, 2005 — A federal judge has resigned from a special court set up to oversee government surveillance, apparently in protest of President Bush's secret authorization of a domestic spying program on people with suspected terrorist ties.

U.S. District Judge James Robertson would not comment Wednesday on his resignation, but The Washington Post reported that it stemmed from deep concern that the surveillance program Bush authorized was legally questionable and may have tainted the work of the court. The Post quoted two associates of the judge.

He probably planned on retiring and this was to satisfy is left leaning beliefs.

This judge is upset because he has a control freak mentality.

No kidding. Now President Bush gets to appoint a judge...looks like his little plan backfired. "Cut his nose off to spite his face"

The President has been doing this for a while now, and this clown doesn't resign until it goes public?

Robertson was appointed a federal judge by President Clinton in 1994. Chief Justice William Rehnquist later appointed Robertson to the FISA court as well.

Now he is free to date with Bill's hand me downs.

SIMON AND SCHUSTER has already given him an advance of $100,000 so some hack can ghostwrite a book for him, to be released just before the 2006 elections, saying how he personally told Bush not to 'break the law'. (off only half-joking)

So the judge doesn't comment and yet, the Post knows why he resigned? I wonder if someone at the Post could tell me what is in the big blue package under my Christmas tree?

I'm betting Rush's take on this judge is the correct one. This judge was one of the leakers of the 'Bush is a spy' story and the judge stepped down to abort further investigation of his leaks.

1. Was the leak an indictable crime?

2. Why would stepping down be any protection if it was ?

one theory is that he is one of the leakers to NY Times and that he resigned rather than be fired.

I just wish President Bush could provoke more leftist judges to do the right thing and resign.

Not just Clinton appointee but the judge who repeatedly dismissed charges against Whitewater figures (Hubbel, especially) and who was REPEATEDLY reversed as incorrect by the higher court.

He's a pathetic Dim activist hack.
