HOUSTON The wife of the pastor of the nation's largest church was asked to leave a plane after she failed to comply with a flight attendant's instructions, the FBI said Tuesday.
Houston Lakewood Church pastor Joel Osteen, his wife, Victoria, and their two children boarded a Continental Airlines flight from Houston to Vail, Colo., Monday. The plane's door had been closed when Victoria Osteen and a flight attendant had a disagreement.
"She failed to comply with the flight attendant's instructions, and they were asked to leave the flight," FBI spokeswoman Luz Garcia said without elaborating on the disagreement.
The FBI reviewed a report from Continental after the incident, Garcia said. No charges will be filed, she said.
The flight was delayed more than an hour while the Osteens' luggage was retrieved, Garcia said. The family took another flight to Colorado, where church spokesman Don Iloff said they were skiing Tuesday.
Iloff called the disagreement with the flight attendant "minor" but would not say what happened.
"In semantics, they might have been asked to be removed," he said. "Really, it was more of a mutual thing."
Continental spokeswoman Julie King would not discuss the disagreement but said in a statement that the situation was resolved.
Osteen's sermons are broadcast across the country and his book "Your Best Life Now" has become a best seller. His church has more than 30,000 worshippers weekly and meets in a renovated arena where the Houston Rockets once played.
Why are the pretty ones always nuts?
I love the part where she says "I didn't do anything that would reflect badly on you all, whom I love, and the church".
The very fact of flying first class to Vail as a minister's wife reflects badly to me. If she threw a tantrum in first class and tried to enter a cockpit...that reflects badly.
Next time I am in Houston, I will stick to the little chapel on the hill instead of this big business with the corporate wife.

It's genetic. Beauty and nuts go together like a bowl full of cherries. (Nuts enough for you?)
Sinclair Lewis, please call the office!
Actually, it's the 4th thread on this topic.
The Houston Chronicle printed the details of the events leading up to Victoria Olsteen's departing the plane.
Apparently, from witnesses, a beverage was spilled (whose fault?) on Victoria's tray, and she asked an attendant who was passing through, to please clean it up. The attendant was carrying paperwork to the front, and had her hands full and said she couldn't do it right then, and Mrs. Olsteen said something like, "Will you get someone who can." And not knowing the rest of the conversation, it probably went downhill from there.
My personal observation, since no charges were filed -- which would be SOP whenever anyone is "removed" from a plane, one could guess that Continental might have sided with Victoria that the attendant over-reacted. At least that's how I am reading it. The newspaper article said it was mutual that Victoria departed the plane.
The Olsteens finished their airline trip later in the afternoon.
For the Love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. (1st Tim 6:3-10)
Well, since Victoria was not arrested and was allowed to fly later that same day. It must not be a big deal. Perhaps everybody was having a bad hair day.Merry Christmas!
Maybe! Merry Christmas to you also!
At $1500 - $1800 a first class ticket, she might have mistakenly thought she was buying first class treatment. She must not fly much these days!
Not to mention the fact that the "pastor" will be in Vail skiing over Christmas. Seems to me that he has his priorities wrong.
Just my $.02, but who the frog cares? Is she (or he) supposed to be perfect? David had Bathsheeba's husband killed in a war. Moses smacked the rock for water instead of simply praying over it.
If she misbehaved, then she deserved to be tossed off the plane. If she continues to misbehave in this manner, perhaps she should avoid air travel.
So much ado about too much nothing.
Why are these people who are principal ministers of a church flying first class and vacationing in Vail? That hits me as a little unseemly. The wife is a complete brat.
LOL
I have encountered many a b*tchy flight attendant. Plus I do not doubt the snottiness of Ms. Osteen. Even in his preaching he has illuded to her love of all the finer things.
Well, at least she wasn't praying. What an offense that would have been!
Pretty smarmy statement... And accepting no responsibility at all for losing her composure or her manners. No matter what happened, her having a hissy fit was the start, middle, and end of the story. She acts like it was all inflicted upon her and everyone is just being mean.
