Boxer Impeachment Letter
Boxer senator online ^ | 12/19/2005 | Barbara Boxer

Posted on 12/19/2005 6:48:51 PM PST by stocksthatgoup

Boxer’s letter is as follows:

On December 16, along with the rest of America, I learned that President Bush authorized the National Security Agency to spy on Americans without getting a warrant from a judge. President Bush underscored his support for this action in his press conference today.

On Sunday, December 18, former White House Counsel John Dean and I participated in a public discussion that covered many issues, including this surveillance. Mr. Dean, who was President Nixon’s counsel at the time of Watergate, said that President Bush is “the first President to admit to an impeachable offense.” Today, Mr. Dean confirmed his statement.

This startling assertion by Mr. Dean is especially poignant because he experienced first hand the executive abuse of power and a presidential scandal arising from the surveillance of American citizens.

Given your constitutional expertise, particularly in the area of presidential impeachment, I am writing to ask for your comments and thoughts on Mr. Dean’s statement.

Unchecked surveillance of American citizens is troubling to both me and many of my constituents. I would appreciate your thoughts on this matter as soon as possible.

Sincerely,
Barbara Boxer
United States Senator

Do you think I would offend her if I sent a letter to her office that said, "Get over your cheap self b*tch!"?

Can you say "orchestration"?

The only thing strange is that the left is so bereft of ideas its following the kooks off the cliff

Unchecked surveillance of American citizens is troubling to both me and many of my constituents.

Oh? You're not too keen on the possibility that your conversations with Al-Qaeda might have been monitored, Babs?

Speaking of your constituents, wasn't there a guy from Marin County a couple of years ago who was captured while fighting for Al-Qaeda?

IMO, this entire thing is a tempest in a teapot.

Of course the president is going to authorize spying on people involved with terrorists.

I wonder if these people are even paying attention to what they are fussing about. It is crazy.

I can't believe that we have sunk so low. Maybe, I'll give Boxer's office a call tomorrow and let her know exactly how I feel about her... as soon as I can think of some polite way to do so.

Hey,Babs knows that she'll never be President or Senate Majority Leader and she knows that she can be a Senator for as long as she wants...so why shouldn't she do this?

After all, girls just wanna have fun!

She needs to go back and read up on the suspension of habeus corpus, and the US Code on 'sedition' and 'treason'.

Watching Tariq Aziz mouth off some vile nonsense about the US in the lead up to Gulf War I, I said to my self, "One day I'll see you hang." Looks like I'll get my wish; and, if God is generous, may I also live to see a lot of current Dem leadership mount the scaffold also.

Congress passed new legislation which permitted the wiretapping of US citizens without a warrant.
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1543451/posts

She must be forgotting that THEY gave the president the authority to conduct warrantless wiretaps against US citizens. It's clear in the link. The article was written before the House passed the legislation and the language is in the Patriot Act.

I think the left wants the Patriot Act to go away so they can force impeachment proceedings with the hope the public does NOT understand that Congress gave the president the authority to conduct these wiretaps.

Rush talked about Clinton doing the same thing, yet no mention of it on O'Reilly or Hannity & Colmes tonight. I wonder why?

John Dean is a bagman. He, personally and on his own, took large amounts of cash from the Nixon re-election campaign and delivered it to the Watergate defendants to keep them quiet. Everything that came after was an act to save his own hide. Don't believe the Boxer nonsense about how "poignant" it is that Dean runs his mouth now.

They have been chomping at the bit to try to bring an impeachment against President Bush for months now.

They are so blinded by hate and vengeance that they can't understand the facts. They think this is "payback" for Clinton's impeachment (BTW, Happy Anniversary, Bill!)

Boxer's political career just took a dive. One by one they are all dumping their careers as they trip over each other to get at President Bush.

Anyone seen Daschle lately?

Yup. It's going to be an ugly year next year. We knew this was coming; I'm just glad the president started ramping it up right around Veterans Day. It will be good practice for the days ahead.

Actually, it's time to ratchet up the counter offensive against Babs Boxer. Let's point out that Al Quida loves people who think like her. Also that people like her would make it easier for them to exist and eventually launch a terrorist strike from within the US.

Not to attack her patriotism, but she has no reservation about putting partisan politics over the well being of American citizens. She needs to the bete noir of the house just like Ted Kennedy is in the Senate.

"Nuts!"

Smart.

She's riling up her moonbat base.

They'll send money and forget to ask questions what her policies are.

Maybe we should ALL call her. Remind her that Congress gave the president the power to conduct warrantless wiretaps on US citizens.

Write this down as speculation, but if I were a betting man, I'd bet that the leak of this new Executive Order comes from the office of Senator Rocky. After all, his office has done this kinda thing before.
