RELEASE TIME should also be used to teach the
civics classes taught to those applying for U.S.
citizenship, as well as the Constitution.

We have release time Bible study where I am from.

I wouldn't call it hatred, but even today, in Alabama, my kids are told that they are part of a cult and are not Christians.

Those saying that are not true Christians.

"Hugo Black was a Klansman who hated Catholicism."

And that's how the whole made-up "wall of separation" thing started. There is no "wall of separation" in the Constitution.

"I've been watching this program from the beginning. This is the most accurate televised discussion of the origin and meaning of the First Amendment's religious clauses that I've ever seen. Even before it's over, I recommend that all interested in this subject, tape and keep this program as a primer on this subject."

I agree. Perhaps there's a way to get the transcript. Most of the laws enacted have occurred in the last 50 years. It seems that the US has increasingly become more like the secular communists and Maoists than true to the founding father's vision of a God-based society.

I was looking forward to watching it 30 min after our President's speech, but got caught up in other computer related things.

Thanks for the 'heads up'.

[...Too much politics from the pulpit, not enough Jesus...]

Like it or not, Jesus is VERY political. Herod feared him
because he thought he wanted to be a political ruler. Truth's
war is in the heavenlies. Men who want power will be intimidated
by the King of Kings.

BULL PUCKY??? Do I know you? I thought I was the only person who uses that phrase.

[...Starring in? Editing? Watching?...]

Writing and producing. Hoping to put together a project that teaches Americanism based on on the founders views. A journey back to patriotism.
Pray for the project.

Brit brings up the city of Redlands California, and the cross in their city seal.

Many cities have been attacked because of this. The city of Edmond Oklahoma had a cross taken out of their city seal. The cross in that seal was the suggestion of my sainted mother, who sat in on a meeting of the seal design decades ago.

She just died a couple of weeks ago, and nothing would make me happier than to have that cross returned.

It's not an "establishment of religion". Merely an acknowledgement that church life played a very important role in the civilizing of the old Indian Territory. It's history, that's it. Churches contributed to the building of that city. That's why the cross was there, and why my mother suggested it. It needs to be returned.

Moral Absolutes Ping.

One of the few times I wish I had TV. Looks very good, and repeats later (according to one comment) later tonight.

Will be back a-pinging soon.

If there is a transcript/summary of the program, post it and ping me.

Merry Christmas!

Freepmail me if you want on/off this pinglist. It's usually busy, just not lately.

Church is where you should be learning about a Biblical Worldview - which touches every aspect of life, including politics. Check my website for more information.

"We'll investigate how the wall of separation between church and state really gets built in modern America and how Americans are fighting back."

As usual, we're fighting a multi front war.

He was indeed, but he did say render unto Caesar the things that were Caesar's. Jesus was especially political on moral matters, but then it was somewhat of a half theocracy then too. Jesus saved his harshest criticism for overzealous and arrogant Church leaders who conspired to stop the spread of the Gospel (no I'm not making comparisons--I don't think I can anyways).

Bull Pucky has long been in my family. I do think that it comes from our family's agrarian roots so to speak. I have picked up a couple of phrases like "Holy Cats" from other sources though.

"Wowy Zowy", "Beeber Stuned", "Fantabulous", "Shaka"...

OK... somebody needs to start a thread.

Like I said, it's where I go to learn about the Savior and his Gospel. True, it touches many areas like some politics--as in abortion, gay marriage, and the like. But I don't need political candidates coming in seeking to get some kind of endorsement. I am also perfectly capable of making up my own mind of whom I vote for. I don't need someone else deciding for me. If I had a choice of listening to Hilary Clinton (or another politician) or my own pastor in Church, you know who I'm going to choose. I have six other days where I can hear politics from many sources. I have one where I can go to Church and learn more about HIM (though I can worship at any time).

Ah, that's the catch. Bill of Rights says "Congress shall make no law..." it doesn't say "Supreme Court shall make not law...". At least that's what some of the Justices seem to think.
