If Bush had asked for a declaration of war in late 2002 or early 2003, it might have been pretty messy...the 'Rats who could claim that by authorizing use of force they were just giving Bush leverage to pressure Saddam would have been forced to take an open position, and with Bush saying that the danger was not "imminent" it's not clear to me that he would have had a majority in favor of an open declaration of war.
Lincoln pretended that he was just putting down a rebellion, as if the Confederacy was just the Whiskey Rebellion on a larger scale.

Hopefully he's angry enough to tell McCain to take his legislation and stick it where the sun is not known to shine.

They want to destroy America . I think when you and others make this statement, people tend to gloss over it, including most Republicans and many conservatives.
But it is absolutely true.
To be 100% accurate and for sake of clarity, the statement should probably read They want to destroy America as it was designed.
This is irrefutable as far as I'm concerned, and believe it can be drawn out and proven if debates were actually held with capable conservatives who understand The Constitution and have the courage to defend it.

a declaration of war in late 2002 or early 2003, The US military stood well back during last week's elections. If the US military can stand well back all the time from now on and not be particularly noticed, they can begin to draw down the forces. Those who are beginning to urge redeployment or withdrawal at this point are just jumping on the bandwagon, looks like.
Lincoln did not expect the 'rebellion' to go on long at all nor did he want a fight to the death. Few expected it to scale up and go on and on. Surprise at early results and indecision at the top on both sides contributed.

It's gotten our Party nowhere, too. I understand where you're coming from, but that's more than a tad hyperbolic. Two improbable mid-term election victories by Republicans and Republican majorities at virtually every level of government cannot seriously be described as being nowhere.

Yes, Lincoln asked for volunteers for 90 days...and the Southerners also expected to beat the Yankees quickly. No one had any expectation of what was really about to happen.
Of course, Scarlett was even more wrong...she thought there wasn't going to be any war at all.

I doubt it. Frankly, I don't think he cares. You don't think he cares about what?
About this country? About the leaks? About the lies? About what you think?
What exactly are you whining about this time? Be specific.

Ah...........afraid to clarify are you? Unwilling to admit that your post didn't make sense? Unable to defend whatever point you were ineffectively trying to make?
btw, I ain't whining, boy. I'm proud of this President, and this country. I don't have ANY reason to whine, and I never do.
(The Dems don't make me whine........they make me scream in fury...........now, please tell me.........what were you whining about?).

Maybe Bush is now learning that you can't befriend your enemy. I doubt it. Frankly, I don't think he cares.
Stop being stupid and explain what you meant by this.
No more excuses. No more silliness.
Just explain what you meant by this whiny comment........if it actually meant anything, that is.

Arrest whoever leaked the story to the NYT for breeching national security.
I agree; but sadly, if it's an attempt to make President Bush look bad, it seems to be fine and dandy. This leaker will be punished as soon as Sandy Berger gets a real punishment.

Well, then I guess I'm asking too much of my nationally elected Republicans. Most of them are spineless RINOs, IMHO. I'm just frustrated because in my state, we only have Dimowits representing us, and a Dimowit Governor who, while WI has the Republican majority in both our House and Senate, vetoes everything that comes before him that's introduced and passed by said Republicans.
I'm not getting enough for my tax dollars these days. As they say, "Over taxed and under represented."

Thanks for that letter draft. I made some updates and amendments and sent a version to President Bush.
To: zzen01
Exactly. I am going to do as much as I humanly can to change the situation. It may not work, but I think after the entire Rossi debacle, we have a decent chance at it. But I will work harder than I ever have, that's for sure.
In fact, Cantwell had been significantly moderating her positions in the past few weeks after visiting Iraq. There is no accident in that, but most of us are not easily fooled.
Good luck with Hagel. ; )

Good. The more who write (responsibly) the better. He needs to know what his base believes and supports. I'm waiting to hear his speech tonight. I'm thinking of taping it to mpg. We'll see.
