Jane Fonda: U.S. Troops Are 'Killing Machines'
"Hanoi Jane" Fonda is claiming that ever since Vietnam, U.S. troops have been trained to commit atrocities against innocent civilians as a matter of military policy.
"Starting with the Vietnam War we began training soldiers differently," the anti-American actress says in an email to the Washington Post.
Fonda claims she learned of the policy switch in "secret meetings" she had with military psychologists "who were really worried about what was happening to our combat personnel."
One doctor, she insists, told her U.S. troops had been deliberately trained to be "killing machines."
"This began," Fonda maintained, "because the military discovered that in World War II and Korea, [U.S.] soldiers weren't killing enough."
"So they changed training procedures" to teach troops how to commit atrocities.
Still, the anti-war gadfly cautions, it's important not to blame the soldiers themselves for carrying out war crimes.
Recalling the "Winter Soldier" hearings that she and John Kerry staged in 1971, Fonda lamented: "When you put young people into an atrocity-producing situation where enemy and civilian are commingled, where the 'other side' is dehumanized, we cannot be surprised."
Anti-war vets now returning from Iraq, Fonda cautioned, should be listened to instead of being dismissed as "unpatriotic."
"We have not learned the lessons of Vietnam," she declared.

I think the study she is refering to was SLA Marshall's one, which found that in any given firefight during WWII, only an average of 10% of the unit involved had fired their personal weapons. The Army did adjust its training to encourage a more aggressive use of small arms, and one of the results was the "mad minute" response to ambush. This tactic encouraged everyo0ne to return fire in the general direction from which an attack came, followed by an assault on the ambush position.
Experienced ground combat troops soon learned what Marshall missed: only about 10% of a unit in any given firefight fire their weapons because only about 10% of any given unit is actually in contact with the enemy during a firefight. The rest have friendly troops between them and the enemy position. In the case of heavy concealment terraine, like Vietnam, at times only the point man might actually have a clear field of fire.
Our troops face a very different tactical situation now, and it seems to me that both their tactics and their combat skills have improved over what was the current standard when I was active (30 years ago now!).

Very true, when you come under contact and throw yourself to the ground it takes a while to actually judge where the fire is coming from unless its right next to the bushy topped tree .
Depending where you are in the formation you will have more of a chance of having other members of your unit in the way.

There you go using logic again..... Fonda, Kerry, Move-ON, ANSWER and all those other traitors have no desire to see the US succeed at anything. They will do everything to destroy it and the military that is doing so much work in the world.
They cry and scream that conservatives are 'fascists' even though a fascist is not what a conservative (aka classic liberal) can ever be. The two are mutually exclusive terms. A fascist is a socialist (follows Marx for you at DU). That said, these leftists cry and whine about President Bush "taking freedoms away" and establishing a "police state". They do this while marching through the streets of various cities protesting, calling for US troops to shoot their officers (sedition), holding signs stating their support of terrorists and dictators (aiding and abetting), demanding "revolution" (insurrection), and calling soldiers every lie in the book (i.e. 'baby killers', trained killers, those who terrorize women and children in the dead of night, etc).
They have their little marches and right after saying how Bush wants to take away freedoms, demand that conservatives have no say at all!! I was traveling through Alabama and picked up a Birmingham station last week. A leftist caller was screaming the same old tired "fuhrer Bush police state" lies and in the very next sentence, stated that "there should be a law against allowing conservatives on the radio"!!! So, we are all equal, but the leftists are more equal than the conservatives... That, Mr. Leftist IS fascism. And that seems to be exactly what "progressives" stand for.
Notice how these people didn't complain when the "killing machines" came to dig them out of the Northridge Earthquake, or how these same fools demand troops by the thousands when a flood hits?
Fonda, Kerry, Clinton, Boxer, Murry, Murtha, etc all hate the US military, and the President. Any collateral damage caused by their attacks (i.e., the real loss of freedom and life if the terrorists win) is acceptable to them and their leftist stooges. Oh, Murry cries up a storm and sheds crocodile tears for US troops, but only cares about cutting and running... follow the money with him.

Very well stated...and especially galling that Hanoi Jane who was brought up with the very best lifestyle possible in America, has dedicated the past four decades to undermining it...why?...because the poor little rich girl did not get to spend enough quality time with Daddy? Traitor, and snobby elitist with the intellect of a watermelon. Disgusting!

Some of HanoiJane's innermost thoughts were stated when she said:
Jane Fonda "I would think that if you understood what communism was, you would hope, you would pray on your knees, that we would someday become communist." ........Jane Fonda of Hanoi Jane notoriety at a discussion with students, at Michigan State University, 1970.
I, for one, don't think her views have changed since 1970. She was and still an American Traitor! (Always & Forever)
