What is the line on Execute vs. Stay and what is the over/under on the time of death?
To: kgrif_Salinas
Polls show overwhelmingly Californians want to put this quadruple murderer to death.

Looks like the 'cave-ins' are leading.

My guess: Political expedience dictates that Arnold sidestep justice. Tookie lives . . . temporarily.

I don't think anyone cares. Maybe a riot of pop singers.

"Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other."--John Adams
Now from a Constitutional standpoint there should be no federal established religion per se. However the Framers would have assumed the legislation passed by the national legislature would have some flavor of religion to it.
As to the legislatures of the separate and sovereign states, such limitations did not apply

I agree, but with one change. I believe in hard, backbreaking work to pay for their keep. Re: Cold Hand Luke.

"By the very fact that a person is a murderer they have given themselves the right to decide when another human will die."
Indeed. And a person who does that is wrong to do so. Society has a responsibility to punish those who murder. that punishment, in my opinion, should be a lifetime of imprisonment, so that they might consider the error of their ways.

Innocent life. Thats the distinction. Do you propose that police officers shouldn't carry deadly weapons?

He's had 26 more years than each of his four victims. That's 104 bonus years beyond when justice should have been served.
I'm afraid, though, that the Girlie-Man Non-Terminator RINO will cave.

I am still floored by the inference that it's easy to kill him when these charges date back to 1979 and there's an automatic appeal process.

If they execute him, get ready for the onslaught of tributes, t-shirts, posters etc. of revisionism.

I said I was against the death penalty, not against him getting swift and sure punishment.

I was under the impression that SchwarzenKennedy wasn't going to be making some big splash announcement.

He is hardly "rotting".
I doubt the victims families are getting along as well.

Unfortunately, this is being framed as Schwarzenegger against Tookie, as if the Governor is the only one deciding. The fact is, prior to this moment, a prosecutor had to decide to seek the death penalty; 12 jurors had to unanimously agree to the death penalty; the presiding judge had to agree; several layers of appelate courts agreed; and now the Governor merely has to enforce their decision.
It is hardly one man deciding the fate of another. Schwarzenegger only needs to reaffirm his respect for the decision made by those many people. Or he needs to say they were all wrong.

Arnie will SO cave.

That is simply not an option in modern prison systems.
