While I can respect the strength of the man's convictions,

You know Jeff you must be a better person then I am.

I in no way respect any of these so called "peace" activist. They are evil people who get innocents killed. They aren't stupid, they know exactly what they are doing.

May they be rewarded according to their works.

People who strap explosives to themselves and attempt to take as many people with them as possible are not going to convert

It is form of conversion. They get converted from a person into a mist of meat, hair, and bones.

He specifically stated that if taken hostage he did not want US or Iraqi forces to attempt his rescue with any use of force.

Sorry, but if that's how he felt, then he was wrong to go to Iraq. If he still feels that way after a few weeks of captivity, then he's sure to be severly disappointed when we do show up and rescue him. Because it won't be a fat bag of cash that gets him out of the pokey, it'll be C4 and 5.56.

His capture is bigger than just him; it's a threat to any America traveling abroad. We can't negotiate for his release , and we won't. Regardless of whether or not he comes home in a bag, his captors will be hunted down.

She was asked what she would say to the captors. This is what she said to them. You can think what you will, but I ask you...did you hear it yourself? I did, and she was plainly talking to the captors of her father...to "them" as she answered the question.

When you start a comment with, "I would tell them...you continue in that person through the comment generally.

It was disgusting and unbelievably naive. They are entitled to their belief and conviction...but, IMHO, their belief and conviction is anti-American and supportivce of the enemies killing our personnel there and hoping to kill us here too.

All I respect is the strength of their conviction...just like I respect a sharp pointed stick. I do not agree with or have the least respect for what they are doing...they are abetting and, by their own words, attempting to assist a fanatical enemy whose only intent is to kill as many of us as possible.

Exactly. The U.S. military is there, in part, for the same stated reasons. We're there (among other reasons) to do the work they (the good Iraqis) would like to see done.

Perhaps the inflection changes the meaning, Jeff, but this quote seems completely compatible with our mission in Iraq.

"I would like to say to them that my father was always very welcome by the Iraqis he was trying to help, that the work that he was there to do is the same work they would like to see done,"

You could interpret this statement in two ways. She's saying that the REGULAR Iraqi people welcomed him and that he was doing the work that the REGULAR people of Iraq wanted done; a view with which I have no quarrel. Another interpretation is that he supported the terrorists (whom she mistakenly determines are all Iraqi) in their fight against the Coalition, and that he would be supporting their actions against the REGULAR people of Iraq; which is detestable, in my opinion.

In the latter case, the man wasn't acting as a Christian 'Peace' activist, he was there to stir up the pot because he doesn't like the war-mongering Americans.

That does put things into perspective, and obviously changes my opinion about these terrorist collaborators. Too bad they're using the name of Christ to carry out their misguided mission. Thanks for the link.

This is an excerpt from the CBS news / 60 Minutes interview with former U.S. hostage Roy Hallums -

He waited while nine other hostages were freed, one after the next. As he began his eleventh month as a captive, he wondered how long they would keep him alive.

It was right at that point, on Sept. 7, that U.S. soldiers assigned to a special hostage rescue unit, acting on a tip, found Roy.

“The door popped open and somebody jumps down, and it was somebody from the Army!” he says.

“Are you Roy?” the soldier asked. Roy, pulling off his mask, said ‘yes.’ And the soldier said, “Come on, we’re getting you out of here.” He handed Roy a little American flag decal, which Roy still has in his pocket.

Hostage rescue is extremely difficult, but the U.S. military won't leave any American behind. We won't stop looking for them or their captors, no matter how long it takes.

This peace activist is a Quaker, right? As such, he would never take up arms in defense of the United States. His type sits quietly by and enjoys the freedom provided by the sacrifices of Freedom Activists or Soldiers.

Screw him! He wanted front row, now he has front row. Enjoy the show, dipstick.

Please trust me...it was clear that she was speaking directly to the captors and telling them that her father was there assisting them, she even tagged on at the end, "his death will not do your cause any good".

Exactly. Our people are just as convicted to protecting and saving American lives and liberty as this individual is to being a pacifist and trying to assist our enemies.

At least I hope it's simply naivete and delusion.

That or treason, there is no middle ground.
