A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

With the holiday season in full swing and Christmas fast approaching, I asked a Few of Our Finest to set some of their finest Christmas tables to present throughout these next few weeks. Each one has chosen her own theme, and no one else has seen it. Today our featured guest artists are deadhead and tuliptree76.

I hope you enjoy and appreciate their beautiful Christmas offerings as much as I do. It's always rewarding when we have our Finest' contributions, but never moreso than during the Christmas holidays.
Thank you, Colleen and Tulip!

Ornament Wreaths

Every year, I make one or two ornament wreaths as gifts. They are very easy to make, even for those of us who aren’t very crafty! The following is how to make an ornament wreath.

You will need:
(1) A circular wreath form (Large or small)
(2) Ball Christmas ornaments (glass, plastic, or satin – all sizes and colors)
(3) A glue gun and hot glue

Dab a little glue on the wreath form where you would like to place an ornament, and then attach the ornament to the form. Make sure the metal or plastic loop on the ornament faces in towards the form so that it doesn't show when the wreath is finished. Keep adding glue and ornaments until you cover the front and sides of the wreath form. Don't put any ornaments on the back of the form so that it can easily hang on a wall.

I like to put the larger ornaments as a base around the form and use the smaller ornaments to fill in the gaps between the larger ornaments. I also like to start at the back of the wreath and move to the front, but there is no set way on arranging the ornaments. After you cover the form, you can add bows or other decorations if you like. Also, add a wire or string to the back so you can hang it.

Hint: Add the string or wire to the wreath form before you add the ornaments. It will make tying the string easier.

And now you have a beautiful wreath for you or someone else to enjoy!

Merry Christmas!

What's happenin' your way? Did the kids get a snow-day today? I didn't get my Snow-day (Tony, that is) because I had to go to work too darn early this morning! :o)

Hi ladies!

keeping my self busy in the season of "folly" here.. I swear, just when you think things could NOT be any worse or more problematic.. whammo

despite no plumbing & no heat my biggest concern is Toby's toe pad. He will not stay put. keeps hobbling along all over following me around, as is the pattern of dogs I guess. I do have an appt w/vet tomorrow at 2. Did NOT go today as I thought the furnace guy would be here.. but it is after 6 & still no call or "whites of eyes". The vet is far (90 miles).. long story.

Colleen & Tulip - your tables were thoughtful, appropriate & beautiful. Thank you.

I have designs colleen to do a lovely photo card & have it half pix & half spiritual.. (I am talking about a mailed one).. will send most of my holiday greetings via email , as been the pattern past 5 years or so. Mass letter w/photos.. some don't like it.(and they can find the delete button).. half wondering if I will get ANYTHING done!

Tulip.. I love to do crafty things but this year I am not sure what will happen. I have a BUNCH of wild grape in back yard. Enough for 100s of wreaths.. each year I think I will harvest some & give lots away for folks to use & make a few cutsie things for gifts & each year it is neglected. The grape vines are covering some hardwood trees in the back /side of our property.. and they go hundreds of feet up.

colleen.. is jwalsh07 your hubby?

no clue from profile page & just a curiosity.

My back is hurting & head pretty sore from all the smoke from fireplace. But I did warm up the home a bit & did dry some out a bit. between the oven, dryer, water on stove & the fireplace, things are a bit warmer than last night at same time.

the water continually coming out of the floor drain is another problem. I am shop vacuuming about 5 gallons an hour out. have NO clue where the water is coming from. I am doing laundry (incontinent mom it is a necessity) but all water is going into containers & I am lugging it out to front yard & dumping. NONE is going into "system".

These are the times I miss having a Handy Hubby around.. my futile, at times, attempts to do things is pretty funny when not annoying.

unlimited $$$ permits one to call help when in need.. not an option here.

Your weather is temperamental. LOL!

Booboo didn't have an official snow day but I gave her one anyway. My son was ticked off. He had delayed opening. LOL! He can't miss then he has too much work.

I have to mail you Booboo snow man later. :)

Hi Dolly. Sorry about all of your problems. Not a good time of the year to have no plumbing and heat. I feel really bad for you and your Mom. And Toby, is there a Vet emergency clinic you can bring him too? I know they always charge so much money, but if it weren't for them, my pup, Lucy wouldn't be here today. jwalsh07 is my brother, the person who got me hooked on Free Republic.

Prayers for you and yours, Dolly.
