Chuck Schumer: U.S. 'Imposing' Elections on Iraq
Newsmax ^ | December 5 2005

Sen. Charles Schumer is predicting failure for Iraq's democratically-elected government, complaining that the vote next week to determine the country's new parliament is being "imposed" on the Iraqi people by the U.S.

"There will be no government in Iraq the way they're trying to structure it now," the New York Democrat told WABC-TV's "Behind the News" on Sunday. "They're going to have these elections but that's sort of being imposed on them."

Schumer questioned the legitimacy of the Iraqi vote despite sky-high turnouts for the country's January and October elections, which saw a higher percentage of voter participation than in U.S. elections.

I think we should add 8 new Republican senators by dividing both Texas and Alaska into 3 states each.

Yeah, 150,000 American troops held guns to 15 million Iraqis and forced them to the polls. Yeah, sure.

Chuckie would rather have the Iraqi people "accept" an animal like Saddam back, than have freedom "imposed" upon them by us. What a whacked sense of values he has. Utterly incomprehensible to any sensible person.

Bet you would have said the same thing about Japan 50 years ago.,
India too, no doubt.

If 70% of the people are prepared to risk life and limb in order to vote, then democracy stands an excellent chance of taking root.

Are you 'disenfranchising' the Iraqi voters now, Chuckie?

Their rhetoric is beginning to show signs of desperation. We must be close to total victory.

Chuck Schumer: U.S. 'Imposing' Elections on Iraq

The epitome of imposition is having to listen to this amoral windbag on a regular basis.

No, this POS won't be happy until more planes fly into New York skyscrapers. Is there any doubt these traitors wouldn't love to see a nuclear weapon detonated in a large US city if they thought it would win them an election? These people are the enemy, and they should be treated as such.

Unspeakable bastards.

After the lawyers walked out, Saddam, shaking his right hand, told the judge: "You are imposing lawyers on us. They are imposed lawyers. The court is imposed by itself. We reject that."

"There will be no government in Iraq the way they're trying to structure it now," the New York Democrat told WABC-TV's "Behind the News" on Sunday. "They're going to have these elections but that's sort of being imposed on them."

Sounds like saddam and schumer have the same speech-writers.

Dear Chuck,
My two federal senators are Hillary Clinton and you.

Moderate and conservative New Yorkers have no representation in the US Senate.

I'm jumping in a little late on this thread, but I recall when Tom Delay dared to question Clinton's impeachment-eve bombing of Iraq. He wasn't even questioning the justification for the attack...just the fact that it was the night before the impeachment vote.

The Democrats (especially Maxine Waters) came right out and questioned his "patriotism" with "troops in harms way." The media attack followed, with Republicans like McCain even taking Delay to the wood shed for daring to make such a comment.

It's amazing...because not only will Republicans not take on these Democrat traitors who say much worse things, they will more harshly criticize a Republican who (eg Schmidt) is even less incendiary. Just in the last couple days, Dean, Schumer, Kerry and Murtha have given Republicans ample oppurtunity to stand up for something...yet they still fail.

Hey Chunky... does not it suck that you're the "senior" senator of NY... but that the Hildabeast is really your "daddy?"

Anyway Chunky... don't go away mad; just go away.

I wish the leadership country -- both parties, that is -- would give up this silly, childesh notion that "spreading freedom and democracy around the world" is somehow a moral/political mandate of the United States. In some cases, "freedom and democracy" is the last thing this country really wants -- and I've made the case that Iraq is a perfect example of such. The development of a viable nation-state in Iraq is absolutely impossible, and anyone who thinks it would work out in the end is naive, delusional, or both.

That's funny...I figure if you think you've made any such case convincingly you are either naive, delusional or both.

Ahhh, chuckle-head, pining for the good ol days, where Saddam and his spawn could pick women off the streets, for a little jaunt to the rape rooms, and where they had new and interesting uses for chipper-shredders!

Yet another dem who loves murderous dictators. And one who dreams of bringing his utopia here.
