Is a Bush endorsement of McCain enough to sway your opinion?

Posted on 12/04/2005 9:19:56 AM PST by cubram

Some on the morning talk shows suggested that McCain is the natural successor to Bush for his committment to the war, and that Bush will "pass the baton" to him.

My question is: if Bush endorses McCain will you think aboout voting for him? Personally I don't care for McCain for a number of reasons, but if I think he will continue W's legacy, I might reconsider.

What do you think?

No. But Bush's endorsement of McCain would be the kiss of death for his nomination. I hope he does it.

But I find the premise absurd. President Bush will endorse no candidate in the GOP primaries.

I would not vote for Mr.McCain under any circumstance. I believe he is not responsive to the Pro-Life members of the base. There are other reasons as well but the main one is this, when he orchestrated the so-called gang of 14, which did have some positive effects (I guess) he came out looking very good at the expense of Senator Frist. Sometimes I wish President Bush would defend or explain his policy more but one thing I have never seen Mr. Bush do is undercut an ally to make himself look good. Mr. McCain is too self-centered to be a team player and therefore not one whom I could trust. In fact I would oppose his nomination for the Presidency with great diligence.

Do you know how many hundreds-of-thousands of voters wish they could go back in time and retract their Perot vote. Do you realize how much people regret that their actions directly gave rise to the Clinton criminal empire. Shame on you ahead of time if your actions result in what's-her-name becoming president, or any Democrat for that matter

No kidding. DUMP McCain! He's an internationalist, he has no respect or devotion to the Constitution, & has a temper that, IMO, disqualifies him from becoming President of the US.

My landlord is a Yankee liberal & was a strong pro-Kerry supporter in the '04 election, & he said that McCain is the only Republican he would support.

Hmmm.....Let me ponder McCain's military and political career for 1/5 of a second.
No.

You're much to hard on the guy who posted on the IQ estimates of commentators. He was within a couple percentage points, plus or minus.

"I think the minutemen need to start a third party... and soon!!!"

Good thinking!  That worked real well in '92 and '96. Gave us 8 years of Slick Willy as I recall. If the GOP splits into two camps, the left wing of the Democratic party (the people who control their nomination process) will simply nominate a serious radical not Hillary Clinton and we will all be saying Madame President Pelosi.

You do have a point. Bush would only endorse the candidate after he or she has clinched the nomination.

Why the Freeper love affair with Lieberman?

He has a lifetime ACU rating of 17, and rated a 0 (yes, a zero) in 2004. This includes a vote AGAINST the partial birth abortion ban.

McCain has a lifetime ACU rating of 86, and rated a 72 in 2004.

I don't see any reason to think Lieberman would conduct the war on terrorism notably better than McCain.

Only Freeper myopia could prefer a guy who voted the conservative position 0% of the time in 2004 to one who voted the conservative way 73% of the time in 2004.

Get with it, folks.

I don't go to the voting booth any more and hold my nose and pull the lever for anyone. I'm fed up with that. I vote FOR someone I like, that's why I've been voting Constitutional Party.
