TRY AGAIN, MR. PRESIDENT -- THOSE WERE EMPTY WORDS [The Presidnet's Amnesty Program]
Neal Boortz ^ | Nov. 29, 2005 | Neal Boortz

Posted on 11/29/2005 5:25:04 AM PST by conservativecorner

Yesterday, George W. Bush strode to a podium in Tucson, Arizona (I love Tucson!) and against a backdrop of law enforcement officers, announced his latest plan to crack down on illegal aliens. There was nothing in his speech we haven't heard before, and his new immigration policy is just as contradictory as the old one. Among the initiatives announced:

We should build more jail cells to hold illegal aliens. Good idea. The speeding up of deportations, a crackdown on fraudulent identity papers, and a hardening of the border with more surveillance. So far, so good. Then the nonsense started to flow. The president urged Congress to pass his guest-worker amnesty program and repeated the nonsense that the illegal aliens are here "to fill jobs that Americans will not do."

Same old, same old. It is impossible to stand there and say you're going to crack down on illegal immigration while at the same time say that you are going to reward people who broke our immigration laws. The president says it's not amnesty. Ok, now we've finally caught the president in a lie. OF COURSE it's amnesty! When you tell someone who has broken the law that you are not only going to ignore their illegal conduct, but you are actually going to reward them for it, then you have more than plain old garden variety amnesty, you have amnesty with perks!

As for the oft-repeated line that the illegal aliens fill jobs Americans won't, that's also a load. Companies may not be able to fill those jobs with Americans at the same low wages they pay Mexicans, but there are plenty of people in this country that would do the work at the right price. OK .. so the price of headless chickens, landscaping and construction might go up, but at least the people receiving those paychecks would be law-abiding residents of this country, most of whom would be citizens. There is something wrong with the idea of celebrating lower home prices when those lower prices are brought with disrespect for the laws of our country. It gets worse than that. We are threatening our very security by singing the praises of illegal aliens in our workforce. Just two weeks ago we were interviewing a Texas congressman who was telling us that U.S. intelligence agencies have knowledge that Al Qaeda terrorists have moved to Mexico, adopted Hispanic identities, learned the Spanish language, and then moved right into the United States across our porous borders.

George Bush failed to address the problem appropriately yesterday, but this isn't strictly a George Bush issue. There is absolutely no willingness on the part of either political party to crack down on illegal immigration. There are simply too many votes to be had in the Hispanic community. So as a result, our security as a nation is threatened and our cities and states are overrun with illegal aliens.

I'm sure representatives of Al-Qaeda are preparing to apply for their guest-worker permits as we speak.

The President's policy is a "pig in the poke". Note that Harry Reid and Ted "The Swimmer" Kennedy support it. The big question is how we get rid of those who overstay their work visas? I'm sure there will be no way to boot the "poor unfortunates" as their roots will be established and the pols will never force them back.

Yeah yeah yeah. Same old song we have heard daily for 24 months. I am beginning to believe that there simply is NOTHING anyone can do. No matter what is done the Whine all the Time Choir simply moves on to the next thing to whine about. Sorry "Critical Thinking" is NOT the same thing as being 100% critical of your own side. Sorry if the rest of us Freepers are NOT interested in joining the 100%ers in their desperation to be politically irrelevant. But I realize their feeling good about their Ideological Purity is more important then actually GETTING things done.

"Most of us Freepers are beginning to wonder just who's side the 100% Complainers REALLY are on??????"

Complainers? So we're all supposed to swallow whatever any self-avowed conservative president says or does without question or even the slightest regard to whether it's right or wrong? And by the way, if this thread is any indicaion, your "most of us" claim is flat out backward.

" Whine all the Time Choir thinks it "helps" by doing the Democrats PR dirty work 100% of the time.

Fine. You spend all your time worrying about the Democrats. The rest of us non-cheerleaders will worry about the direction the president's national security policies are taking.

"I suggest those of you so comfortable in your American homes might consider what it would be like not to be so LUCKY to be born to this country and desire freedom. And the sanctimony of those crying "do it legally" is very easy to say.
I am sick of you "conservatives" sometimes"
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>..
What makes you think that with many more years of the illegal invasion that America becomes what these people are running from?? Charity begins at home. America and Americans first..the rest must fend for themselves..We cannot absorb all the worlds poor..people like yourself and the Religious and NGOs are free to go help them in THIER countries.

My post was not directed toward you so I am at a loss as to why you took it personally. The rest of your post is just silly and apropos of nothing I wrote.

Bush's whole premise for this is that we need these workers to do the jobs Americans won't do.

Take away the welfare handouts from the able bodied Americans and they'll take the jobs. Total BS to coddle these no good parasites living off the rest of us.

I have no problem helping Americans who can't work due to a true disability through no fault of their own. But these people that continue to game the system need to be thrown out of it. Secure the borders, cut off the unneccessay give aways, then we can talk guest worker program.....Off my soapbox now.

One thing I noticed about your posts is you do not say what you think on this issue, just berating others for not support Jorge Arbusto on it. I refuse to support a president and his policies I believe detrimental to this country.

"It's hilarious how the hate-Bush crowd think THEY are the real Republicans when they couldn't elect a dog catcher. Then they demand supporters of the Party leave the Party -- if we don't, then they'll form a Third Party and show us by helping to elect Hillary Clinton just like they helped elect Bill in 1992 by supporting Ross Perot."

It may be hilarious because you don't get it.
Bush works for us, not the other way around. We support ideals not a party. The Republicans are closer to those ideals. It is our responsibility to have Bush act along those ideals.

A free and independent America is the side I am on, Not sure what side you are on.

Since we seem to have to chose up sides, this morning we found out that Senator Reid and Senator Kennedy really like the President's plan.

So, based on that, it would seem many of the Bushbots are siding with Senators Reid and Kennedy. [Weren't they the same Bushbots who were decrying all the opposition to the Miers nomination? Notice how they also decry viewpoints in opposition to theirs.]

If Reid an Swimmer like it, that alone is a good reason to oppose it.

globalism is the real angle. However in order to bring about that, we have to be brought down to the level of the average second or third world foreigner. That is why they want so many of them here. Cheap labor, and the bringing down of their own citizenry. It is not just Bush, it is also most of the senate and congressment too.

Oh brother. I do take issue with the notion that America will ever "become what these people are running from".
This country is much more than the poor countries in which these people are trying to escape.
"America and Americans first"???? Tell that to God.
And please get out your sandblaster and erase what is written on the Statue of Liberty while you're at it.

I'd be perfectly happy to pay an extra 25 cents per pound on chicken parts

The hidden truth that businesses don't want you to see is that you are paying that anyway, because businesses aren't. You are paying it in the form of taxes which, in turn, subsidize illegals with health care, social services, and educational benefits. The business bottom line improves and you get the bill on April 15. Neat, huh.
